Did Netflix leak Lucifer season 5’s release date?
Fans have been waiting for more than a year for new episodes of Netflix’s devilish drama Lucifer.

However, while the fifth series had been confirmed and mostly filmed, there was no news on when the first part might drop.

Many were hopeful the series would be released in May much like season four, but when the time came and went some viewers were left wondering when it would be back.

! Now Netflix has finally confirmed its release date after a tense wait from fans. !

The release date update comes after some fans spotted a change to the programme’s page on the streaming platform.

Earlier this morning (June 22) fans noticed the show’s page tagline had been updated.

This had been changed to read “Season 5 Part 1 Coming August 21!,” - seemingly confirming when the series would be back.

Posting on Reddit and Twitter, fans quickly noticed the update and spread the news.

While not the traditional way for Netflix to announce its upcoming shows, fans were pleased to finally have a date.
However, in the hours since, Netflix updated the page to revert back to what it previously read.

Fans visiting the page will now see it reads “It’s official: Another season is coming” on the series’ page.

This has led to speculation Netflix may have made a mistake putting the update on their platform.
Now the release date has been officially confirmed by the creators of the new in a new social media post.

Accompanied by 66.6 seconds of Lucifer's best moments, the tweet read on the Lucifer Netflix account read: "And now, for your viewing enjoyment, we present 66.6 seconds of #lucifer's hottest, sexiest, most downright devilish moments. Season 5 part 1 drops august 21 on @netflix."

Lucifer will be returning for 16 episodes in the new season, split over two parts.

Each will contain eight episodes which will be dropped all in one go on the platform for fans to enjoy.
So far fans know the new outing will pick up six months after the end of season four.

This ended with Chloe Decker (played by Lauren German) finally confessing her love to Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) as the pair shared a kiss.

However, Lucifer then left her on Earth and returned to Hell in order to regain control of his rioting demons.

Viewers are expecting to find out exactly how the pair will return to each other when season five is released.
