Ray Fisher offers new criticism towards Joss Whedon's delayed Justice League defense statement in regards to allegations of a toxic set. Fisher made his DC Extended Universe debut as Victor Stone/Cyborg with a cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice before getting his proper introduction and screen time in Justice League. Despite initially being directed by co-writer Zack Snyder for the majority of the team-up movie's production, things would begin to get rocky when Snyder stepped down due to his daughter's suicide and creative differences with Warner Bros. over the vision of the film.

The studio would elect to bring in The Avengers' Joss Whedon to get Justice League back on track, giving him freedom to rewrite and reshoot a large portion of the film. Hitting theaters in 2017, it would see a polarized response from critics and audiences alike and bomb at the box office, only pulling in $657 million against a reported break-even point of $750 million, with many Snyder fans creating a new movement to push the studio to allow the filmmaker to restore his original vision for the title. Justice League would later come under fire as Fisher and his co-stars reported claims of abuse, harassment and toxic behavior from Whedon during the time of reshoots and the situation was recently reignited as Whedon partook in an interview defending his side of the situation.

After his initial response promising to come back to the matter, Ray Fisher has taken to Twitter to share his thoughts on Joss Whedon's delayed Justice League defense interview. The star criticized the filmmaker for taking this long to respond to the various allegations leveled against him and further criticized the statements Whedon made in his interview in an effort to defend himself. See what Fisher said below:

Joss Whedon had nearly two years to get his story straight.

He’s likely spent tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of dollars on PR, crisis management, and coaching.

And his response to the allegations is: “They all misunderstood and/or are out to get me—also my mom is sexy” ???

Though Fisher did technically respond to Whedon's Justice League interview upon its publishing, it was originally to note he would wait to address the "lies and buffoonery" put forth by the filmmaker until after Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Whedon's first comments on the matter drew a lot of criticism for the nature of his statements, in which he deflected much of the allegations leveled against him. Whedon accused Gal Gadot of misunderstanding his reported threats, citing English not being her first language, while stating he cut down Cyborg's scenes due to them feeling illogical for the story and criticizing Fisher's performance.

Fisher's new criticisms for Whedon's delayed Justice League defense falls in line with the general response to the interview, calling out the filmmaker for the late nature of addressing the allegations leveled against him and failing to take any ownership or responsibility for his actions. Even prior to his proper response, fans flooded to Twitter to support the young actor with praises of Fisher's performance as the troubled Cyborg in Zack Snyder's Justice League, while Gadot would follow up in her own statement critiquing Whedon and stating she would never work with him again. With Fisher receiving renewed support from audiences for his performance, one can only hope he gets the apology he wants from studio head Walter Hamada to return as Cyborg sometime in the DCEU future.
