Slam Bolt Scrappers is in the latter group, combining a mix of puzzle, brawler and strategy elements. The result is a frantic, fun game that is unlike anything else. It’s a real treat to play, even though most people will be stuck playing it single player. The game is divided into levels, each with one or more platforms for both the player and opponent(s). Flying through the air are gremlin-like creatures, which, when attacked, drop blocks of various colors and shapes. Blocks of the same color can be fitted together to create squares, which then become weapons capable of attacking the opponent’s platform. Weapons can be upgraded by adding more blocks, and larger squares mean larger weapons. Winning requires destroying all of the weapons on an opponent’s platform. The strategy element in the game comes from knowing when to build and when to attack. Weapons will automatically attack the opponent’s platform, but players can attack each other, stealing blocks they have collected or knocking them out of the game for a short while. There are times when it is more important to forego building weapons in order to prevent an opponent from bolstering his or her own arsenal. In addition to offensive weapons, certain color blocks will build defensive gear, which will absorb enemy attacks or even reflect them back. Unwanted blocks can be used to regain health, or fed to super-powerful cannons that must be fired manually. Some stages also have ninjas, which can be attacked to reveal powerups, temporarily granting abilities like stealing another player’s weapons, or even attacking weapons directly. Slam Bolt Scrappers is fun and frantic, as decisions to build, attack or hunt powerups must be made constantly. Occasional boss fights require a combination of attacks, as usually direct assaults are required to create openings for weapons to do damage. The boss fights are a nice change of pace, and they add another dimension to the game. Magic 2014 The Duels of the Planeswalkers games have always been a bit of a gateway drug for Magic: The Gathering. They’re an economically-responsible way to get a taste of the card game, but they’ve always strayed far and away from being a form that actually captures the magic of creating and testing decks. With the addition of sealed play, Magic 2014 is finally trying to be more than just a noob-friendly introduction to M:TG. Sealed Play is really the only major gameplay difference between Magic 2013 and 2014. The mode has you crack open six boosters to make a 60 card deck that you use throughout a campaign. You’ll face off against six Planeswalkers in what’s essentially a test run for your deck, unlocking three additional boosters along the way. You can take your Sealed Play deck online to challenge other players, but unfortunately Magic 2014 only allows you to make two decks unless you pay for more ($2 for a single slot or $9 for a bundle of five). And troublingly, you can’t delete your created decks or share boosters between them. So while the introduction of Sealed Play is welcome, it doesn’t work the way that you’d expect it to. Many players enjoy Magic because it lets them have full control over how they create and wield their decks. Magic 2014 lets you do that, but only until you run out of money or deck slots. This is an unwelcome and unnecessary way to monetize a game that already costs $10. Livrările de smartphone-uri vor creşte cu 32.7% în 2013 conform IDC Livrările de smartphone-uri vor creşte cu aproximativ 32.7% în acest an, faţă de anul 2012, conform unor cifre publicate de către IDC. Volumul acestor terminale va ajunge la 958.8 milioane de unităţi, faţă de cel de 722.5 milioane de anul trecut. În 2013 se va atinge şi o bornă impresionantă: livrările de smartphone-uri le vor depăşi pe cele de telefoane low end. Astfel, smartphone-urile vor reprezenta 52.2% din întreg segmentul telefoanelor mobile la nivel global. Trendul va continua şi în anii următori, pe măsură ce definiţia smartphone-ului e tot mai largă, iar terminalele cresc în specificaţii şi scad la capitolul preţ. Interesant e că pieţele emergente au generat 64.8% din livrările de smartphone-uri în acest an, o creştere impresionantă faţă de 43.1% în 2010.
