The World Cyber Games (WCG), also known as the “Olympics of Esports”, is making a comeback this year and all official game titles in the worldwide esports competition have been announced. These games are Clash Royale, Crossfire, DotA 2, Hearthstone, Honor of Kings, and Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne.
Classic games from previous WCG competitions such as Blizzard Entertainment’s Warcraft III, Smilegate’s Crossfire, and Valve’s DotA 2 are returning this year.
Blizzard Entertainment’s Hearthstone, which recently held their HCT Winter Championship 2019, is also included in this year’s esports competition.
The inclusion of Supercell’s Clash Royale and Tencent Game’s Honor of Kings in this year’s WCG just proves that mobile games are now earning its spotlight in the world esports scene.
World Cyber Games 2019 will be held in Xi’an, China on July 18-21, 2019. Registration for WCG 2019 National Qualifiers is currently ongoing.
WCG held their last event in 2013 in Kunshan, China wherein 500 players from 38 countries took part in the legendary esports event. Some of WCG’s notable games from the previous years include Counter-Strike, FIFA, Guitar Hero, Tekken, League of Legends, and StarCraft II.
