Looks like the Konami code still has a few tricks up its sleeve. The infamous series of inputs from the SNES era has made an appearance in a modern game: Anthem.

You can actually check out this pretty cool Easter egg in the Anthem open demo if you want. It's pretty easy; when you're on Anthem's menu just enter the Konami code.

For those of you too young to know what that is, just input Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start. Perhaps this goes without saying, but if you're playing on PC, you'll have to plug in a controller if you're not using one already. We've yet to try it on PS4, but we assume replacing B with Circle and A with X will work for DualShock 4 controllers.

You'll know the code worked almost instantly, as the theme of Anthem transforms into something that's reminiscent of old school RPGs. You can turn the music back to the default theme by closing the game and opening it back up again. If you just want to hear what the music sounds like, check out the video above. The retro song is surprisingly soothing.

Anthem's open demo continues throughout the weekend, ending on February 3 at 6PM PT / 9PM ET, which is February 4 at 2AM in the UK. To participate in the open demo, you'll need to download its client which is 26 GB on consoles and 44 GB on PC. You'll also need an Xbox Gold or PSN membership to play on Xbox One or PS4 as Anthem is an always online game.

The demo includes two story missions, freeplay, a challenging stronghold, and the option to play as any of Anthem's four Javelins.
