Kia has announced UK specs and prices for the EV6, its new flagship electric car.

At launch, there will be a choice of three equipment grades - a base model, GT-Line, and GT-Line S - and two powertrains, a rear-wheel-drive version with 228hp, or an all-wheel-drive with 325hp.

Both powertrains feature a 77.4kWh battery, and ultra-fast 800V charging capability, allowing a 10-80% charge in 18 minutes.

A further GT performance model will join the range next year.

Standard equipment with the entry-level EV6 includes a curved panoramic display with two 12.3 touchscreens, Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, LED lights, heated front seats and steering wheel, dual automatic air conditioning, sat-nav-based smart cruise control with stop and go, and autonomous emergency braking.

Further equipment with GT-Line spec includes GT-Line styling details, wireless smartphone charging, privacy glass, and blind-spot collision warning, while GT-Line Scars also feature kit including a panoramic sunroof, remote smart park assist, a powered tailgate, a 14-speaker Meridian audio system, and an augmented reality head-up display.

Prices start at £40,895 for the base EV6, which is rear-wheel drive only, then rise to £43,895 for a rear-wheel-drive GT-Line, £47,395 for an all-wheel-drive GT-Line, £48,395 for a rear-wheel-drive GT-Line S, and £51,895 for an all-wheel-drive GT-Line S.

Pre-reservations close later today (30 April), ahead of general orders opening on 18 May. The first deliveries are expected in October.
