The battery capacity for Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra has been leaked today, and it's not good news if you've been optimistic and hoping for a bump compared to the S24 Ultra's.

According to prolific leakster Ice Universe, the S25 Ultra's battery will be exactly the same as the S24 Ultra's battery at 5,000 mAh. Furthermore, even the maximum charging capacity will stay unchanged at 45W.

So while the S25 Ultra is rumored to sport a pretty significant redesign, it appears that some things on the inside will remain exactly the same. What do you think about this move?

We'll just say this - some of Samsung's Chinese competitors have slowly started to outfit their flagships with bigger batteries, and rumor has it the next bunch out of China, coming late this year and early next year, will go even further - around 6,000 mAh, in fact. So with that in mind, when the S25 Ultra comes out in January, it might look a little bit undercooked, battery capacity wise.

Finally, let's add some more context: the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC, which is due to power most Android flagships going into 2025, has long been rumored to be quite power hungry. So the aforementioned Chinese companies putting bigger cells in their devices could very well be a direct consequence of that.

But, if this rumor pans out, Samsung will have done the whole "one step forward, two steps back" dance, making the S25 Ultra less dangerous to the palm of your hand by rounding its corners, but also possibly giving it worse battery life than its main Android competitors.
