Director: Rensil D’ Silva Producer: Karan Johar Production Co: Dharma Productions Cast: Emraan Hashmi Sanjay Dutt Kangna Ranaut Neha Dhupia Angad Bedi Randeep Hooda Arunoday Singh Genre: Drama Movie Duration: 1 hour 54 minutes Description: This story has its heart in the right place, mind all over the place, and finger on the wrong pulse. 'Ungli' is socially relevant, earnest in delivering a strong message, albeit, the weak execution doesn't support the larger intent. Personal opinion: Censor scare. I would have recommended they change the name of the film from Ungli to Mukka, but then with a film that lack any punch the change in name would have hardly mattered. Images: Trailer: Source

An elaborate diamond robbery. Personal opinion: Though full on laughter, Happy New Year is a film that fails to evoke any other emotion despite the filmmaker's attempt to do so. A decent festive watch at best. Images: Trailer: Source

Director: John R. Director: Zoya Akhtar Producer: Ritesh Sidhwani Farhan Akhtar Production Co: Excel Entertainment Cast: Hrithik Roshan Farhan Akhtar Abhay Deol Katrina Kaif Kalki Koechlin Ariadna Cabrol Genre: Adventure Romance Friendship Drama Movie Duration: 155 minutes Description: Kabir's (Abhay Deol) just proposed to his girlfriend Natasha (Kalki Koechlin), but before he gets married, he wants to celebrate his bachelor's party. The trip begins and the trio meet a host of interesting people which includes Laila (Katrina Kaif), the delightful diving instructor. But more interestingly, they learn to combat their insecurities, fears and shed the emotional baggage of the past in what turns out to be a coming-of-age trip for the threesome. Personal opinion: Every major character at some point, appears ridiculous. That's the beauty of the askew world that Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti's script tries to make sense with doses of humour and warmth. Images: Trailer: Source

Director: Homi Adajania Producer: Dinesh Vijan Saif Ali Khan Sunil A Lulla Andrew Heffernan Production Co: Eros International Illuminati Films Cast: Saif Ali Khan Deepika Padukone Diana Penty Dimple Kapadia Boman Irani Genre: Drama Romance Comedy Duration: 2 hours 26 minutes Description: Gautam likes Veronica. Veronica likes him too. Gautam falls for Meera. Now what does Meera do? Three close friends find themselves caught in a vortex of emotions. Personal opinion: Cocktail for a rom-com has the music going perfectly well for with with most of Pritam's tracks turning chartbusters. Cocktail can make for a decent time-pass watch if you have the capacity to digest the cliched melodrama. Images: Trailer: Source

Director: Karan Johar Producers: Gauri Khan Hiroo Johar Cast: Shahrukh Khan Kajol Katie Keane Jimmy Shergil ZARINA WAHAB Benny Nieves Kenton Duty Genre: Romance Thriller Drama Duration: 2 hours 40 minutes Description: Rizwan Khan, afflicted with Asperger's Syndrome , sets out on a historic journey to meet the US President, when his world takes a somersault after 9/11. His wife, Mandira, meanwhile tries to cope with her grief and come to terms with the new racially-divided reality. Personal opinion: This is not a film without flaws, it is at least 20 minutes too long for one and flags in the pre-interval period, but here is one straight from the heart. It has a message, in these days of tensions over language and religion, one which needs to be heard. Images: Trailer: Source

Director: Shoojit Sircar Producers: John Abraham UTV Motion Pictures JA Entertainment Pvt Ltd Cast: John Abraham Rashi Khanna Sheetal Malhar Leena Maria Nargis Fakhri Genre: Thriller Drama Historical fiction Duration: 2 hours 10 minutes Description: Madras Cafe is a complicated film. Somnath Dey and Shubendu Bhattacharya's screenplay form is impressively inspired from Hollywood political thrillers. Syriana and Green Zone come to mind, but there are fewer tracks to follow here. A barrage of information upfront outlines the tempestuous politics of Lanka, and the evolution of the Tamil separatists incarnating as the Tamil Tigers. The writers stick to the winding handrail of larger, known Rajaratnam was allegedly a product of official training provided by RAW! Personal opinion: Madras Cafe is a stupendous thriller and though it slips in some parts, the film is an overall winner. Cinema like this should be encouraged! Images: Trailer: Source Times of India

Director: Abhishek Varman Producers: Sajid Nadiadwala Karan Johar Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Dharma Productions Cast: Arjun Kapoor Alia Bhatt Amrita Singh Revathi Ronit Roy Genre: Romance Duration: 2 hours 29 minutes Description: Punjabi boy and Tamilian girl discover love on their college campus. However, their diverse cultures make its culmination a challenge. However, that movie had too much angst and a tragic end. Personal opinion: 2 States is a wasted opportunity to encash the popularity of a book. Despite the cast, the budgets and brand in place, the film fails to make a mark purely due to faulty execution. Not a funny or entertaining rom-com this one. Images: Trailer: Source TimesofIndia

Director: Ayan Mukherjee Producers: Karan Johar Dharma Productions Cast: Ranbir Kapoor Deepika Padukone Kalki Koechlin Aditya Roy Kapur Kunaal Roy Kapur Poorna Jagannathan Navin Kaushik Madhuri Dixit (Item Number) Genre: Romance Drama Musical Duration: 2 hours 40 minutes. Description: Four friends take off for adventure sport and discover little-known personal aspects of one another. Years later they reunite and this time the equation is even more combustible. Personal opinion: To sum it up, despite a stereotypical story line, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani still scores for being a breezy joy ride especially for the performances and screenplay.Despite its tripe plot, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani keeps you engaged majorly because of the performances of each and every actor and also the screenplay of Ayan Mukerji. Director: Robert Rodriguez Frank Miller Producer: Sergei Bespalov Aaron Kaufman Iliana Nikolic Harvey Weinstein Bob Weinstein Frank Miller Robert Rodriguez Cast: Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Josh Brolin, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Rosario Dawson, Bruce Willis, Eva Green, Powers Boothe, Dennis Haysbert, Ray Liotta, Stacy Keach, Juno Temple, Lady Gaga, Julia Garner Genre: Action Duration: 1 hour 39 minutes Description: Starting with the story of Marv (Rourke, from the previous movie) who tries to piece together various events, Sin City's shadowy, gritty and bloody tales are graphically spread over a group of stories or chapters, told using the neo-noir aesthetic in an ultra-stylish, ultra-violent fashion. Personal opinion: All the storylines have the common theme of revenge running through them, which saves the film from looking like the sum of its parts, unlike its predecessor. The types of revenge varies from fatherly revenge, to revenge for betrayal, to revenge to avenge. Images: Trailer: Source timesofindia.indiatimes.com

Director: Patrick Hughes Producers: Avi Lerner Danny Lerner Les Weldon Cast: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Harrison Ford, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mel Gibson, Wesley Snipes, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Kelsey Grammer, Antonio Banderas, Jet Li, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey Genre: Action: Duration: 2 hours 6 minutes Description: Barney Ross (Stallone) and his battle-hardened warriors are back, this time augmented by the addition of new recruits. After springing their buddy out of prison, the Expendables are thwarted by arms dealer Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson) while on an intercept mission. Stonebanks is also wanted by the US government. What's worse, Conrad used to be Barney's old friend. Personal opinion: Overall, the screenplay is dull and predictable. Director: Phillip Noyce Producer: Jeff Bridges, Neil Koenigsberg Cast: Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Brenton Thwaites, Alexander Skarsgård, Katie Holmes, Taylor Swift, Cameron Monaghan, Odeya Rush Genre: Drama Duration: 1 hour 37 minutes Description: Jonas (Thwaite) lives in a utopian society that celebrates conformity and uniformity to preserve peace. He is chosen to be the next 'Receiver of Memory' and learn about the primal feelings of the past world. The more he learns, the more he realizes how fake his carefully engineered society is. Director: Steven Quale Cast: Richard Armitage, Sarah Wayne Callies, Matt Walsh, Alycia Debnam Carey, Nathan Kress, Max Deacon Genre: Action Description: Towering tornadoes take centre-stage here as they cut through small towns in America like a hot knife through butter. A group of storm chasers and a few add-ons try to document the destruction. Personal opinion: Director Steven Quale seems to have not taken this subject seriously as the frivolous last scene mars the impact reminding you that there is no story, but what you are experiencing is just a fictional masterpiece. Director: Lasse Hallstrom Cast: Om Puri, Helen Mirren, Manish Dayal, Charlotte Le Bon, Juhi Chawla Genre: Drama Description: Hassan's family starts a desi joint in a French village - opposite a Michelin-starred restaurant. What happens when rival Madame Mallory discovers Hassan's talent. Personal opinion: While the title as well as the setting makes a good allegory for the narration that is so typical of Director Lasse Hallstrom, the theme of the film as well as certain scenes remind you of his earlier film "Chocolat", which was released in 2000. Little does she know that she has been used as a drug mule instead! However, the victim in her becomes lethal when she is accidentally exposed to an overdose of the very experimental drugs she is about to transfer. Not only does he have to kick some serious ass, he also needs to silence his inner demons and defeat an evil king. Personal opinion: What keeps you hooked is the rich earthy textures of the frames, the impressive production values and excellent 3D effects. Dwayne Johnson was awesome!
