Bradley Cooper's Leonard Bernstein Movie In Talks to Cast Matt Bomer

Matt Bomer may be joining the cast of Bradley Cooper's new Netflix biopic about Leonard Bernstein, Maestro. A follow-up to his directorial debut, A Star Is Born, Cooper also co-wrote the script for Maestro with Spotlight penman, Josh Singer, and will be starring as the famous conductor as well. The biopic will be produced by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, alongside Kristie Macosko Krieger, Fred Berner and Amy Durning. Though Bernstein has a staggering amount of accomplishments and accolades, Maestro's story will focus heavily on the complicated union between him and his wife Felicia, who will be played by Promising Young Woman's Carey Mulligan.

 

Now, Deadline reports that Bomer is in early talks to join the biographical drama's cast. However, the American Horror Stories star's specific role in Maestro has yet to be revealed. Netflix has also not yet responded to the report.

Given Maestro is set to span a period of over 30 years, it is difficult to speculate on who Bomer may be playing in Cooper's biopic if his casting is confirmed. Since starring in the hit TV show White Collar, Bomer has scored several high-profile credits. The actor has graced the small screen several times, appearing in American Horror Story, The Sinner, and most recently, Doom Patrol. As for film, Bomer well known for playing Ken in both Magic Mike movies, as well as Donald in Netflix's The Boys In The Band. Now, Maestro looks to be Bomer's next big film project, and with filming set to begin in May of this year, more official details about his role are likely to be released soon.
