Elizabeth Fraser & Damon Reece Share Soothing New Single “Golden Air”

Cocteau Twins vocalist Elizabeth Fraser and Massive Attack percussionist Damon Reece have unveiled a new single titled “Golden Air.” The new track comes from the Fraser and Reece’s upcoming EP, Sun’s Signature, set to release physically on June 18 and digitally in July. “Golden Air” marks the first official release of music from Elizabeth Fraser in 13 years.

Old fans of Cocteau Twins and Fraser’s other work will be delighted to hear her famed soprano voice again, as the track instantly puts it against the track’s gorgeous atmosphere created by a variety of different instruments and sounds. Throughout “Golden Air,” we hear various different synths, guitars, and pianos used to create a truly unique soundscape that evolves in the track’s five minute runtime. Starting off softly and sparsely, the track slowly starts to pick up speed as it goes on, adding more and more bits of percussion before eventually adding in a full drum kit. The song concludes on a high note, adding in all of the instruments to create a massive climax including a small guitar solo, before fading out.

 

Accompanying the new track is a visualizer created by Anthony Tombling Jr. In the visualizer, we see various shots of nature, emphasizing shots of bright trees and skies, along with time-lapsed scenes of clouds flying by and flowers growing. Despite a lack of official solo-releases from Elizabeth Fraser, the vocalist has recently collaborated with Oneohtrix Point Never on their recent rendition of Tales From The Trash Stratum.
