Dark Souls fans have been waiting for a new release in the series for a very long time, and they're desperate for anything they can get their hands on. There's great news: a brand-new Dark Souls release has officially been confirmed for September 29, leaving only a month before gamers can dive back into the lore. The Dark Souls series was a major factor in FromSoftware's rise in the early-to-mid 2010s, helping set the standard for the Soulslike genre that others would try to live up to for years to come. While it technically started with Demon's Souls in 2009, mainstream success didn't arrive until Dark Souls two years later. But there has been no new release in the series since 2018's Dark Souls Remastered, and no brand-new mainline game since Dark Souls 3 in 2016. It's not without demand - FromSoftware has simply moved on to other things, leaving fans desperate for more. The new release combines issues 1-4 of the Mother of Mourning graphic novel, which was originally released between December 2025 and May 2026. It comes in at a reasonable $17.99 - a fair price for more Dark Souls lore. Despite the drought of new Dark Souls releases in recent times, fans do have a decent amount to look forward to in September. Alongside the Mother of Mourning Vol. 1, there's also Dark Souls: Redemption Vol. 3, the next iteration of the manga series from publisher Yen Press, which drops on September 22.As to whether FromSoftware will ever revive Dark Souls in video game form - it's anyone's guess at this point. The studio has shown little intention of bringing it back. Given the enormous success of the Elden Ring series, it simply hasn't needed to fall back on a new Dark Souls release at any point. Elden Ring has evolved FromSoftware's Soulslike formula to include open-world elements, which is not exactly what Dark Souls was known for, and it almost feels like the genre may have moved on. It seems fair to say that Lady Dimitrescu is one of the most popular Resident Evil characters to debut in recent years, and the incredibly tall Vampire Lady will make an official return on October 30. However, it will only be for a limited time and a select few—this special Resident Evil event will come to an end on December 24. Of course, it's also worth discussing how it's a unique year-closer when everything is looking up for the franchise next year (as it has been the past several years). As it stands, Resident Evil Veronica (a remake of Code: Veronica) is scheduled to release in 2027 and is believed to be an early release. It is also believed that Resident Evil Requiem will get story DLC sometime after the release of Veronica. So, that's all reason to look forward to next year, and fans of Lady Dimitrescu and the franchise in Japan have more to look forward to. This character exhibition isn't just about who these characters are, but showing off how they would exist in real-life too. Yes, Resident Evil characters like Leon Kennedy, Albert Wesker, and Lady Dimitrescu get accurate statues at the event. The Lady Dimitrescu statue will tower over most, if not all, who visit the event, as she will accurately stand at 9 feet 6 inches (or 2.9 meters) tall. For those who are not local to Japan, the event is already convincing enough to plan a holiday visit to Japan, but every reveal for the event just gets more and more appealing. Of course, that won't be an option for everyone, and it feels unlikely that many videos of the event will surface online (presumably the exhibition will not allow outside photography). FOMO aside, though, it's clearly a good time for the Resident Evil franchise, and the rest of 2026/start of 2027 are set to continue that success. Sursa

Walking Dead fans should mark their calendars for Friday, September 18. There once was a time when AMC's The Walking Dead absolutely dominated cable television, and while its popularity certainly waned in its later years, it's still one of the most successful TV shows of all time. There are still Walking Dead spin-offs actively airing, and the show has also lived on through various other projects. Even though The Walking Dead TV series is based on a comic book, many of the video game adaptations have taken their cues from the show instead of the source material. The games often use the likeness of the actors from the show instead of how the characters look in the comics, and even feature characters created specifically for the series, like Daryl Dixon. The next Walking Dead video game will once again be based on the TV show, and it's set to release soon. The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival seems like it will greatly appeal to fans of the AMC TV series, but it does have one big catch. Despite the fact that the vast majority of games in its genre feature co-op as a major feature (like Streets of Rage and the TMNT beat 'em ups, for example), The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival is a single-player-only game. Not having co-op in a game like this is definitely a head-scratching decision, and with it being so close to the game's launch, it's highly unlikely that plans will change. The lack of co-op doesn't mean that The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival will be a bad game, but it is definitely an odd oversight. When Streets of Survival hits the market, it will be the latest in a long-line of games based on the AMC show. Previous Walking Dead video games include the first-person shooter Survival Instinct, which shows what Daryl and Merle were up to before the events of the show, various mobile game projects, and The Walking Dead: Destinies, a narrative-driven game where players are able to explore "What If?" scenarios.
