New Official Walking Dead Release Confirmed for 2026

The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival has just been announced. Being developed by Odaclick Game Studio and published by Trailmark Games, The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival is an officially licensed beat-em-up currently due to release later this year.

The Walking Dead has had a bit of a tumultuous history in the video game landscape. While the franchise has enjoyed monumental highs with the likes of Telltale's Walking Dead adventure game series, it's also experienced some infamous lows, such as 2013's The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct and 2023's The Walking Dead: Destinies.

 

It's been quite some time since the last truly great Walking Dead video game, but this newly announced beat-em-up could finally be the one to change that. Made in partnership with AMC, The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival will see players assume the iconic roles of Rick Grimes, Michonne, and Daryl Dixon as they hack, slash, and blast their way through hordes of the undead. The game's story is based primarily around the 'All Out War' storyline from the AMC Walking Dead show, which sees Rick and the rest of his crew thrust into a brutal conflict with Negan and his small army of Saviors.

 

With this beloved storyline as its basis, The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival will take players to a bevy of well-known locations from the AMC show, including Sanctuary, Hilltop, and Alexandria.

 

 

The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival promises to offer "hard-hitting arcade beat 'em up combat," where players can use a variety of melee abilities and ranged attacks to wipe out foes. Players will also have access to an arsenal of iconic weapons, including Rick's magnum, Michonne's katana, and Daryl's crossbow. On top of regular Walkers and human Saviors, players will take down recognizable bosses inspired by the show, such as the Well Walker and Winslow. Negan and Simon will also get their own time in the spotlight, being the focus of "intense, multi-phase boss battles."

 

Founded in 2019, Odaclick Game Studio has launched over 20 video games, according to the developer's official website. The studio's most recent release was The Karate Kid: Street Rumble, an officially licensed beat-em-up that encompassed the events of the first three Karate Kid movies. The Karate Kid: Street Rumble received a mixed reception at launch, with the pixel art brawler earning a 63 Top Critic Average on OpenCritic and a recommendation score of 33%.

 

While the game's core combat mechanics were praised by most, The Karate Kid: Street Rumble's repetitiveness and lackluster boss battles were a common point of criticism among outlets that reviewed it.According to the game's official Steam page, The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival will launch in Fall 2026. But if fans want to try out this bloody beat-em-up for themselves, they can do so right now by downloading a free Steam demo. While the demo seems to only be available for those on PC, the full game will launch on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and both Nintendo Switch 1 and 2.
