New Super Mario LEGOs Officially Revealed

LEGO has revealed several new sets based on the Super Mario franchise, which will be released on January 1, 2027. LEGO and Nintendo have been working together for several years, resulting in sets based on some of the most popular video games of all-time. While LEGO has predominantly focused on Super Mario, the company has also offered options based on The Legend of Zelda, Animal Crossing, and more.

 

For the last few years, LEGO's Super Mario sets have avoided offering traditional Minifigures. Instead, the sets have largely featured unique brick-based designs that incorporate lights, sounds, and interactive elements. The company has sometimes deviated from these designs, offering alternative options aimed at older collectors, including large LEGO Mario Kart sets. Fans have really wanted Minifigures though, and they'll finally get their wish in 2027.

After LEGO's new Super Mario sets recently leaked, the company has officially pulled back the curtain on seven upcoming sets. These will feature Minifigures of Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, and other iconic characters. The sets will range in price, with the cheapest option offering Mario and a Goomba for just $9.99. Those looking to spend a little more will have plenty of options, including Bowser's Rumbling Race (priced at $59.99), and Fire Mario and Bowser's Castle (priced at $99.99).So far, reception to the new Super Mario sets seems largely positive. 

 

LEGO sets can get pretty expensive, but buyers will have multiple options to get a Mario Minifigure without spending all of their coins. Considering how long fans have wanted to see this happen, that's a very good thing. More than four decades have passed since the original Super Mario Bros. came out on NES, and that means there are still a lot of iconic characters that LEGO will have to make in the Minifigure format.

 

Favorites like the Koopalings, Daisy, and Rosalina all seem like safe bets, as well as Donkey Kong and his supporting cast. Nintendo fans still have a few months to wait until these LEGO Super Mario sets arrive in stores, but there should be plenty of other options on shelves in the meantime. The LEGO Donkey Kong set was released earlier in the month of August, offering a faithful take on the classic arcade machine. Multiple LEGO Pokemon sets are also slated to arrive in October, including the Upscaled Red Minifigure, and the Iconic Trainer Moments Poke Ball.
