Brand-New Rainbow Six Game Officially Confirmed

During Geoff Keighley's Opening Night Live at Gamescom 2026, Ubisoft surprised fans by revealing Rainbow Six Tactics, a new take on the franchise and its many operators currently being used in Siege. It has already been a big year for Siege, with no signs of slowing down, though with 10 years already under the game's belt, many are wondering what may be on the horizon for the Rainbow Six franchise as a whole.

 

After a rocky start to its life back at the end of 2015, Rainbow Six Siege has become a major success for Ubisoft. In fact, the game is still going strong with a thriving community as new updates continue to arrive every few months, adding new content like operators, maps, and other features. For now, there doesn't seem to be an end point in sight, with the latest season, known as Operation Split Fire, set to launch on September 1 with the newest operator known as Noor. However, even with more content on the way, it hasn't stopped Ubisoft from seeing where else it can take the franchise. 

 

The trailer showcased familiar Rainbow Six Siege operators like Ash, Doc, Glaz, and more, as players are in charge of forming a team to tackle missions around the globe. Each has specific stats and can be equipped with weapons and gear to help complete missions. Fans of the genre will likely notice a number of elements, such as a global planning screen, and an overwatch mechanic where moving hostiles can be shot at during their turn.

 

However, the game also adds in its own touches fans would expect, including a planning phase where drones can be used to gain information, as well as opportunities to execute synchronized breaches on certain walls or buildings to take enemies by surprise, supported by a fully destructible environment similar to Rainbow Six Siege.

 

 

Between missions, players can also continue developing their HQ by building new facilities, training their operators to upgrade their skills, customize loadouts, and more. For anyone that has played XCOM or a similar game, that aspect should feel familiar. While details are still limited, it appears that this one may be launching as a PC exclusive, as the only platform listed on the official website is Ubisoft Connect PC, though it is available to wishlist on Steam as well.

 

 While the new game may have been surprising to fans, Ubisoft previously hinted at doing more with the IP. In fact, creative director Alexander Karpazis and game director Joshua Mills outright hinted at a return to single player in an interview with Game Rant during the 10th anniversary celebrations of Rainbow Six. While many likely immediately thought of a game like Rainbow Six Vegas, Tactics does fulfill a number of objectives, including adding another single-player game to the series, while also taking the fan favorite existing operators and utilizing them in a brand-new experience.
