Diablo 4 reveals the full patch notes for the upcoming October 28 update, and it finally addresses a highly requested issue that fans have been very vocal about since the start of Season 15. Serving as a 30th anniversary celebration, there are a lot of callbacks and nostalgic elements to Diablo 4's current season, but there have also been a few unfortunate issues that have cropped up as well.

Building off of the excitement of BlizzCon 2026, where Blizzard not only revealed Diablo 5 to surprised fans, Season 15 has largely been well received by fans thanks to its focus on being a franchise celebration. Season of Hell's Legacy highlights Diablo's 30 years by not only bringing back the 3 Prime Evils and Deckard Cain, but uses a new activity called Waking NIghtmares to let players experience critical moments from previous games refreshed and recreated in the Diablo 4 engine. Not only that, iconic armor and weapons have also made their way back to Diablo 4, though fans have continued to highlight one major issue currently happening in Season 15.

While the change is probably best regarded as better late than never, Blizzard has already issued an apology to players during Season 15. The seasonal update had a rougher than expected launch, suffering from a short delay and numerous launch issues that impacted players attempting to jump in and play. As a result, Blizzard quietly gave Diablo 4 players 1 free Resplendent Spark through the in-game Horadric Post mail system as an apology for the issues. The very rare crafting material is highly sought after, a currency that can be used to purchase an Uber Unique. In order to get one, players would need to first visit an Alchemist and sacrifice an Uber Unique, something that is rare enough to drop as it is.

Naturally, the news quickly spread in the community and while there is definitely excitement, there's also an undercurrent of disappointment that it took this long to make the change. In fact, the top comment in the Reddit thread sarcastically compliments Blizzard for waiting until the bulk of the player base has "given up in disgust", especially with an issue that seemed easy enough to change. Some admitted that they had already given up since the splinters were difficult enough to get, with some asking for the drop rates to get an increase as well.
