LOSC stalwart Franck Béria has announced that he is calling time on his playing career, the veteran defender opting to eschew a place on the field for a place in the club's direction after ten seasons of top-flight football. Now 34, Béria has been at LOSC since signing from FC Metz in 2007 and now that the veteran wide defender has opted to draw a line under his 16-year career, the bond is set to continue as he makes the switch to the position of Assistant Director of Football with the ambitious club. Béria, who made 250 of his 342 league appearances for LOSC (four goals), winning the Ligue 1 and Coupe de France double in 2011, will provide a crucial link between the players and the club's new management team - president Gérard Lopez, vice-president Marc Ingla, sporting director Luis Campos and coach Marcelo Bielsa - as the northerners look to establish their new project. Robert Lewandowski's Polish agent still believes Bayern Munich is "the best club for the development" of his client's career, Cesary Kucharski told Futbolfejs.pl. Lewandowski, 28, racked up his second successive 30-goal season at Bayern, taking his tally to 77 goals in 96 league appearances for the Bundesliga champions. However, the Poland captain is reportedly unhappy at Bayern and last week Maik Barthel, the player's German representative, said coach Carlo Ancelotti offered his client a lack of support in the race to finish ahead of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as last season's top scorer in the Bundesliga. Manchester United and Chelsea were then reported to have held preliminary talks with Lewandowski, prompting Bayern to say that the striker is not for saleand warn that they could take FIFA action if there is any direct approach to the player. Kucharski has now told Polish media: "I don't want to say anything more on this subject, because everything I say here is translated into German and every word is analysed by the media. "However, I've got used to always being the one to blame when it concerns Lewandowski. I've always said, though, and I'm still of the same opinion, that Bayern Munich are the best club for the development of his career. And my opinion hasn't changed, not today nor yesterday." Lyon have signed striker Bertrand Traore to a five-year deal from Chelsea for €10 million, the club announced. Traore, who scored 13 goals in 39 appearances at Ajax last season, becomes the third loanee to be sold by Chelsea in this transfer window following the £17m deal that made Juan Cuadrado's stay at Juventus permanent and Christian Atsu's £6m move to Newcastle. Chelsea plan to reinvest the money acquired from these sales in several high-profile signings as they attempt to match head coach Antonio Conte's request for significant additions to the first-team squad, with sources saying Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko in line to be the first arrival. Claudio Ranieri insisted he had moved on from his title-winning spell at Leicester as he was unveiled as the new coach of Ligue 1 club Nantes. The Italian led the Foxes to a remarkable Premier League triumph in 2016 but was sacked just months later with the club in relegation trouble.
