Margot Robbie has debuted the full title to “Birds of Prey,” her upcoming superheroine girl gang movie from Warner Bros. and DC. The actress/producer made shared it on her Instagram on Tuesday. The full title is: “Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of one Harley Quinn).” Robbie, reprising her “Suicide Squad” role, will also produce “Birds of Prey.” The film is centered around a revolving group of female heroes and villains, individuals with knowledge of the project told TheWrap. “Birds of Prey” will be produced by Kroll & Co Entertainment’s Sue Kroll and Clubhouse Pictures’ Bryan Unkeless, as well as Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment. Cathy Yan is set to direct. Yan is best known for writing and directing her feature debut “Dead Pigs,” which took home the World Cinema Dramatic Award For Ensemble Acting at Sundance earlier this year. Yan would be the third female filmmaker to join the DC universe with this film. She will also be the first Asian woman to direct a DC film. As TheWrap first reported, Christina Hodson wrote the “Birds of Prey” spinoff for Warner Bros. and DC Films. Hodson is also writing “Batgirl” for DC. It runs just 23 seconds, but the short teaster posted on Netflix’s Twitter account offers up the first sight of Henry Cavill taking on the role of Geralt in the service’s upcoming show based on the fantasy series “The Witcher.” The brief appearance was shot just last week. News hit in September that Cavill would be taking on the role of Geralt of Rivia (the titular Witcher in both the video games and books). Season 1 of “The Witcher” isn’t likely to debut until 2020. It’s being shot in Eastern Europe with plans for eight episodes, each running about an hour. Variety broke the news that Lauren Schmidt Hissrich was signing on as executive producer and showrunner in December. She previously wrote and co-executive produced the Marvel superhero dramas “The Defenders” and “Daredevil” for Netflix, along with Starz’s “Power.” She is represented by UTA. Since starting on the process, Hissrich has been very open on Twitter about the process of creating the show. She noted on Wednesday that “we’ve been busy” when Netflix dropped the short video. Earlier this month, she said she’s only done two sets of revisions on the pilot since it was written. “The Witcher” is a fantasy series from Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. It details the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter who battles creatures from Slavic lore. The stories were adapted into a popular role-playing game series by developer CD Projekt Red. Deadpool 2 writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are pulling back the curtain on the mysterious Deadpool re-release opening in December. Fox made a surprise announcement last month that an Untitled Deadpool movie would open Dec. 21, with rumors swirling it would be a PG-13 cut of Deadpool 2. The writers have now confirmed that's the case while speaking with /Film. They also noted that star Ryan Reynolds has already filmed new scenes for the cut. "About two months ago we were out on soundstages shooting again," said Wernick. "Ryan was in the suit and the gang was back together, [director] Dave Leitch and Ryan and us having a great time and laughing. It comes together great so we’re super excited about it." Reynolds previously teased the project by tweeting a picture of Deadpool reading to Fred Savage, apparently reprising his role from 1987's The Princess Bride, which saw the child star play a sick young boy whose grandfather read the epic tale to him. Wernick and Reese declined to say what other actors were part of the new scenes, but Wernick did say that Reynolds had conceived of "a great framing device" for the cut. Perhaps this framing device is Deadpool reading to Savage? Deadpool 2 brought in $734 million globally, coming in under the $783 million the first installment earned in 2016. The future of the franchise is not yet clear in light of the pending Fox/Disney merger, which will see Fox's Marvel characters move over to Marvel Studios under the oversight of studio head Kevin Feige. Writer-director Drew Goddard is attached to direct an X-Force spinoff movie with Reynolds and Deadpool 2 stars Josh Brolin and Zazie Beetz, but the filmmaker has indicated he is not sure if or when that film will come together due to the merger. "I still feel like there is real opportunity to explore that.
