As hard as it is to imagine, this year marks the 20th anniversary of the attacks on September 11, 2001, that claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 people and had an impact on everyone else who survived no matter if they were in New York City, in Washington, D.C., or at home watching the shocking events unfold on TV. As we all look back on one of the most consequential days in the history of modern society, we can’t help but look back at some of the moving documentaries that have been released in the 20 years since the towers fell. Below is a handful of those documentaries and docuseries that can help us remember that fateful day and hear the stories of those who experienced it firsthand. 9/11 (2002) What initially started out as Jules and Gédéon Naudet and James Hanlon’s idea to document a year in the life of a probational FDNY firefighter (“probie”) becomes something completely different during its production and has since become one of most important documentaries about the September 11, 2001 attacks, creating 9/11. Released on CBS in March 2002, this emotionally raw and traumatic 112-minute documentary showed audiences what the first responders — many of which perished attempting to save people in the World Trade Center and surrounding area — saw as they became part of history. One thing that should be remembered about 9/11 is that it was filmed as the events were unfolding which makes for some truly terrifying moments. One part of the documentary that sticks out after all this time is how the Naudet brothers become separated from one another in the midst of the chaos and destruction. The brothers, though terrified, lost, and confused, continue to capture footage to tell a complete story of everything that unfolded on a day no one will ever forget. Source
  2. Legendary filmmaker, and one of Martin Scorsese’s longest-running collaborators, Paul Schrader has created some of cinema’s all-time great characters in Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver and Julian Kay in American Gigolo, and the decorated screenwriter and director looks to have done it once again with The Card Counter cast and its quartet of top-billed stars. With names like Oscar Isaac, Willem Dafoe, Tiffany Haddish, and Tye Sheridan sitting atop the list of names in Schrader’s moody crime drama about a former United States soldier and the son of one of his dead colleagues getting revenge, it’s easy to see why it’s one of the most anticipated 2021 movies. You can probably name a few movies with each of those stars, but it might be a different story for other actors who show up in The Card Counter. Fear not, as we have put together a quick yet comprehensive list to help ease your mind. Oscar Isaac (William Tell) Leading the bunch in The Card Counter is Oscar Isaac, who portrays soldier-turned-drifter William Tell at the center of Paul Schrader’s intricate noir throwback. One of the biggest stars in today’s Hollywood with everything from the Star Wars “Sequel Trilogy” to Ex Machina under his belt, Isaac has built quite a name for himself for the better part of the past two decades, delivering commanding performances in film, television, theater, and even podcasts, collecting multiple awards (including a Golden Globe for Show Me a Hero) along the way. And the future looks to be just as bright for Oscar Isaac, as he has one of the leading roles in Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated Dune adaptation as well as the Marvel Disney+ series Moon Knight. Oh, and there’s also the HBO limited series, Scenes from a Marriage, where Isaac will share the screen with his A Most Violent Year co-star, Jessica Chastain, once more. Source
  3. It took a little longer to come out than previously expected, but a little over a year ago, Christopher Nolan’s most recent movie, Tenet, finally began its theatrical rollout. With that chapter of his filmmaking career over, now we have our first inkling of what Nolan will be working on next. Much like he did with 2017’s Dunkirk, the filmmaker is reportedly tackling a movie set during World War II. Word’s come in that Christopher Nolan is looking to tell the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer’s involvement in developing the atomic bomb, the weapon used to end World War II when two of them were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan. As of right now, this project doesn’t have a title yet, but Cillian Murphy, who previously worked with Nolan on Inception, Dunkirk and the Dark Knight trilogy, might be involved. Assuming Murphy signs on, whether he would play Oppenheimer or someone else is unclear. But wait, there’s more. Although every one of Christopher Nolan’s movies since 2002’s Insomnia has been distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures in some form or fashion, Deadline reports that other studios in Hollywood are read Nolan’s screenplay for this Oppenheimer story and are speaking with him and his representatives about acquiring it. THR specifically names Sony, Universal and Paramount among the interested parties. That’s not to say that Warner Bros. still couldn’t end up releasing this movie, but evidently it shouldn’t be a given that the studio will get first dibs on it this time around. So why could Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer end up at a different studio? This likely stems from Nolan having voiced his opposition to Warner Bros. releasing all of its 2021 movies onto HBO Max for a 31 day period at the same time they were released in theaters. He said the studio’s decision “made no economic sense” and even called HBO Max “the worst streaming service.” Then in January, it was reported that Nolan was “unlikely” to work with WB again because of the implementation of this day-and-date plan. Anyone familiar with Nolan knows he’d a big supporter of the theatrical experience, and he was adamant that Tenet would not be sent to VOD in the midst of movie theaters shuttering their doors last year. The timey-wimey flick starring John David Washington and Robert Pattinson ultimately made over $363 million at the global box office when it finally came out in fall 2020. Source
  4. In a recent interview, Phil Collins has shared an update on his health as the much anticipated Genesis reunion tour begins next month in London. Collins revealed that his son, Nic Collins, will take place of his father on the drums, as Phil served as the drummer for the band. “I’m kind of physically challenged a bit which is very frustrating because I’d love to be playing up there with my son,” he stated. When asked if he would play the drums, he said “No. No, I would love to but, you know, I mean I can barely hold a stick with this hand, so there are certain physical things that get in the way.” Collins will still sing on the tour. Nic Collins also joined his father Phil on his solo Not Dead Yet tour in 2018, also playing the drums. “He plays a bit like me when he wants to,” Collins said. “I’m one of his many influences, being his dad. He plays like me and he kinda has the same attitude as me, so that was a good starter.” Phil has been suffering from nerve damage since a spinal injury in 2007, in which he damaged vertebrae in his upper neck. The tour will mark the first live performance from the band since 2007, when they celebrated the band’s 40th anniversary. Source
  5. Legendary guitarist and Sonic Youth co-founder Lee Ranaldo has announced a new album titled In Virus Times. Set to drop on November 22, this 22-minute piece will release on vinyl and digital. The record is available for pre-order now. The new project showcases Ranaldo’s multifaceted artistic talents. Side A contains an instrumental acoustic piece that is divided into 4 separate parts while Side B is an etching drawn by Ranaldo himself. The cover of this upcoming album features work by Brazilian photographer Anna Paula Bogaciovas. There will be a limited transparent turquoise vinyl edition that comes with an art poster signed and numbered by Ranaldo. According to Ranaldo, this recording originated back in September 2020 while the guitarist was stuck in his lower Manhattan home during “the dark days” of the Covid-19 pandemic. This environment influenced his mindset tremendously and inspired him to transpose these feeling into his eventual instrumental piece. “A heightened sense of anxiety stemming from the then-upcoming US Presidential elections as well as the virus seemed to pervade all aspects of life, for myself and everyone I knew. Its minimal quality reflects the sense of ‘motionless time’ that many of us felt,” said the guitarist. Forced to record in his home, Ranaldo allowed organic sounds, such as sirens and water running, to intrude into his project. “I worked to develop a few simple thematic elements, but mostly I wanted to hear the notes and chords ringing out, hanging in the air for a long time on that evening when the world seemed close to stopping on its axis,” writes a reflective Ranaldo. Alongside the announcement, Ranaldo released a short video that previews the sound of the new album and provides a look into the making of the beautifully crafted vinyl artwork. The snippet features an melodic acoustic guitar co-mingling with a timid and wavering whistle. The anxiety that Ranaldo mentioned in his statement is clearly present and palpable. Ranaldo is an American musician that has been active in the rock scene since the 1980s. An incredibly skilled guitarist, the former Sonic Youth vocalist and guitarist is widely considered to be one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Earlier this year, Ranaldo united with multi-instrumentalist Alessandro Baris for a new single “Last Letter to Jayne.” This haunting track features spoken word lyrics, soft percussion and drawn-out synth chords. In February, Ranaldo teamed up with a handful of artists for a 20-song tribute of Allen Ginsberg’s The Fall of America: Poems of these States 1965-1971. This Bandcamp Friday collection features artists such as Yo La Tengo, Devendra Banhart, Thurston Moore and Andrew Bird. Source
  6. After the controversial firing of Lindsey Buckingham in 2018, Stevie Nicks has commented on the incident for the first time three years after. “It’s unfortunate that Lindsey has chosen to tell a revisionist history of what transpired in 2018 with Fleetwood Mac,” Nicks wrote to Rolling Stone. “His version of events is factually inaccurate.” Her statement continued to say that the start of the downfall was at a Musicare event in 2018. “Following an exceedingly difficult time with Lindsey at MusiCares in New York, in 2018, I decided for myself that I was no longer willing to work with him. I could publicly reflect on the many reasons why, and perhaps I will do that someday in a memoir, but suffice it to say we could start in 1968 and work up to 2018 with a litany of very precise reasons why I will not work with him. To be exceedingly clear, I did not have him fired, I did not ask for him to be fired, I did not demand he be fired. Frankly, I fired myself. I proactively removed myself from the band and a situation I considered to be toxic to my well-being.” Buckingham first claimed he didn’t receive the news from his bandmates, but from their manager, Irving Azoff. “Stevie never wants to be on a stage with you again,” Azoff allegedly told him. Buckingham then stated in a Rolling Stone interview that he was fired after asking Fleetwood Mac to postpone an upcoming tour for three months in order for him to release and tour his latest solo album at the time. The band refused, but he had offered a compromise of booking his own shows in the same cities as the Fleetwood Mac ones. He believes his termination was related to that. He was then replaced with guitarists Mike Campbell, who has played with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and frontman of the band Crowded House Neil Finn. Shortly after, Buckingham sued the band for his termination, charging them for breach of fiduciary duty, breach of oral contract and intentional interference with prospective economic advantage. The lawsuit was settled a couple of months after. Nicks recently canceled her 2021 tour dates due to the COVID-19 surge. “While I’m vaccinated, at my age, I am still being extremely cautious and for that reason have decided to skip the five performances I had planned for 2021.” Source
  7. Long Island-based hardcore band Thoughtcrimes has announced that they will be reissuing their critically acclaimed debut EP, Tap Night, on October 8 via Pure Noise Records. The six-song album includes two previously unreleased tracks called “Wedlock Waltz” and “Misery’s A Muse” which was also released today along with a hand-drawn, animated video created by Rymer’s brother, Tom and artist Riley Schmidt. “My brother Tom Rymer is an incredible artist who has helped us tremendously on numerous occasions,” explained Billy Rymer in a press release. “His friend Riley Schmidt is another massive talent and artistic genius. The two worked with us tediously on making a conceptual, hand drawn animated video for ‘Misery’s A Muse.’” The track itself is hardcore punk at its best, with soaring vocals, heavy drums and guitar. Check it out below. The EP will be available both digitally as well as on vinyl, with three limited-edition versions available: Pure Noise Records exclusive blood red with black and bone twist (100 copies), Revolver exclusive black and red a-side with heavy white splatter on the b-side (150 copies) and a retail version featuring blood red cloudy vinyl (350 copies). 8. According to NME, Australian singer-songwriter Nick Cave has praised American psychedelic rock band The Flaming Lips’ cover of his song with the Bad Seeds titled “Girl In Amber.” The cover was recorded with Nell Smith, a 13-year-old fan of The Flaming Lips. “Girl In Amber” originally appeared on the band’s sixteenth studio album, Skeleton Tree, which dropped in September 2016. The cover will appear on Where The Viaduct Looms, a cover album by The Flaming Lips that will feature songs by Nick Cave. The album will serve as a collaboration with Smith and is expected to drop on October 25. In regards to the cover, Cave fully approves. Apparently, Cave was made aware of the cover by a fan, which prompted him to react to the cover on the site The Red Hand Files. “I didn’t know about this project, so thank you for alerting me to it,” reads Cave’s response. “I have a whole lot of time for The Flaming Lips — really like a lot of their stuff, have been an admirer since watching them play most evenings on the Lollapalooza Festival tour in ’94, maybe even sang with them there, and wrote a song for one of their records. This version of ‘Girl in Amber’ is just lovely, I was going to say Nell Smith inhabits the song, but that’s wrong, rather she vacates the song, in a way that I could never do. I always found it difficult to step away from this particular song and sing it with its necessary remove, just got so twisted up in the words, I guess. Nell shows a remarkable understanding of the song, a sense of dispassion that is both beautiful and chilling. I just love it. I’m a fan.” Source
  9. American singer-songwriter Lucy Dacus has dropped the music video for the third single off of her third studio album, Home Video. After Dacus released “Brando” as a single, she hosted a contest where fans were invited to submit videos of themselves enjoying their lives as the song played in the background. The colorful video features over 50 fans engaging in different activities as Dacus performs “Brando.” The videos are played on a hand-drawn blue vintage television’s screen, which was drawn by Carson McNamara. The first submission displays a pair of men dancing along to the song in front of a brightly-colored mural. Many submissions feature several individuals on bikes or roller skates. Furthermore, several submissions contain people dancing, including some with their pets. “Big thank you to everyone who submitted,” said Dacus in regards to her fans’ submissions. “These videos brought me a lot of joy and made me feel more connected to the song and all of you.” This fall, Dacus will be embarking on a North American tour in support of the album’s release. Furthermore, she announced that she would donate the money made from all of Texas shows to support abortion funds following Texas’ new abortion law. “Brando” and its parent album, Home Video, are available to stream or buy. Dacus announced the contest back when the song was initially released. In a tweet, the singer-songwriter announced the music video release by saying, “Brando video out now, your submissions actually fixed my depression.” Source
  10. English rock band Radiohead and video game company Epic Games have teamed up to tease The Kid A Mnesia Exhibition in a short trailer. The teaser also revealed that the project is expected to drop in November. The exhibition is “an upside-down digital/analog universe,” according to the event’s press release. The artwork was created by Radiohead vocalist Thom Yorke and frequent Radiohead art collaborator Stanley Donwood. Meanwhile, the audio was designed by Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich. The whole project is in celebration of the band’s fourth and fifth studio albums, Kid A and Amnesiac, that dropped in 2000 and 2001, respectively. The teaser trailer channels found footage horror movies as the camera flashes to images of symbols and icons. It also features some chilling instrumentals alongside the visuals. Furthermore, the video discloses that the exhibition will be available this November. The announcement of the exhibition was a part of the Playstation 2021 showcase. The project will exclusively drop on Playstation 5, as well as on PC and Mac through Epic Games. Kid A served as the band’s breakthrough international success. The album landed Radiohead’s first album atop the Billboard 200 chart. It also won a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album and was nominated for Album of the Year at the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards. The album was also critically acclaimed. Many publications ranked it as one of the best albums of the 2000s. It even landed in the top 20 of Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Albums of All Time.” Source
  11. According to Loudwire, American heavy metal band Bad Wolves have announced the release of their third studio album, Dear Monsters, which will be their first album without former vocalist Tommy Vext. The announcement follows-up the band’s clash with Vext on social media. Dear Monsters will drop on October 29 and will feature the band’s new vocalist Daniel “DL” Laskiewicz. The band has previously accused Vext of abusive behavior. However, Vext argued that the band’s management mistreated him. Vext recently sued the band’s management and label team, including Better Noise Music’s head Allen Kovac. “Desperate people do desperate things,” reads Bad Wolves’ response to the Vext’s actions. “Tommy Vext quit Bad Wolves last January to pursue a solo career. Unfortunately, he quickly realized that nobody cares about him as a solo artist and that he can’t make or sell music on his own. He can’t write his own music so he released an edited version of our first single with his vocals on it. Desperate people do desperate things.” The statement also reveals how Vext billed himself as “B@D W8LV3S” in order to sell tickets. Furthermore, the band called out Vext’s attempt of making a GoFundMe account that ended up being shut down due to fraud. “But what’s most desperate are the mountains of lies Tommy has told since leaving the band,” the statement continues. “It is clear he has no moral compass and is willing to say and do anything, regardless of the truth.” Eventually, Vext responded by posting a video on his Instagram page. He defends his actions and goes against what Bad Wolves said in their statement. here “Imagine being ousted, ridiculed, falsely accused, betrayed and abandoned and still carrying on,” wrote Vext. “Imagine having your hard work and blood and [sweat] stolen by vengeful incompetence [and] inexcusable greed. Imagine going through all this and still packing up, booking a tour after a global pandemic and selling more tickets [than] your famous band’s headlining shows ever did.” source
  12. 21-year-old singer-songwriter Maia, better known as mxmtoon, recently released her new EP to coincide with the release of the popular video game Life Is Strange: True Colors which was teased during Square Enix’s 2021 conference back in June. The singer will also provide the singing voice for the video game’s new protagonist Alex Chen whom mxmtoon claims she feels a deeper connection with based on multiple shared aspects of their identities; for example, they are both LGBT+, Asian American musicians who struggle with coping with their emotions. They are also, as mxmtoon notes, “eerily similar” in age. The EP is a part of the Life Is Strange: True Colors official soundtrack which features other queer artists such as Girl In Red and Phoebe Bridgers. The soundtrack will also include original tracks by Angus & Julia Stone and Nova Amor. The singer-songwriter also released her cover of the 1992 Radiohead classic “Creep” back in March of this year. She also covered Violent Femmes’ 1983 hit “Blister in the Sun.” Both of the songs are featured on the new EP. Recently, mxmtoon released yet another song off the EP entitled “In The Darkness.” Watch the accompanying music video below! Shifting back to the gaming world, a crowd extension feature in Twitch, which allows viewers to vote on live game choices, will debut with Life Is Strange: True Colors. The extension is such an important part of “choose-your-own-adventure games” like the Life Is Strange series, especially when it comes to experiencing Twitch streamers’ live gameplays. In other news, the developers of the series announced last month that Life Is Strange: Remastered Collection would be pushed to early 2022. mxmtoon True Colors Tracklist: 1. In The Darkness 2. 13. The British indie band Glass Animals have reason to dance; their 2020 album Dreamland was a hit among indie fans, and their song “Heat Waves” was also well received by the music world. Now, the band released their newest track, “I Don’t Want To Talk (I Just Want To Dance).” Like the title indicates, the song is all about dancing and letting loose. It’s a fun new track that would have had the potential to be the soundtrack of the summer if summer wasn’t over and we wouldn’t have an ongoing pandemic. Yet, this doesn’t mean listeners can’t go outside and dance the day away. The song feels fresh and light. For the next few minutes, the listener can forget their sorrows and just enjoy the music. Frontman Dave Bayley says about the inspiration behind the new song, “Talking is great, don’t get me wrong. But this pandemic has made so many of us look inwards in a way we maybe haven’t before. The uncertainty in the world and the inability to go out and create new memories makes you dig deep into the past.” He continues, “It really fed people’s deepest insecurities and rattled our foundations in so many ways. Relationships changed, friendships altered, and self-confidence was warped. I spent a lot of time talking to my dog, but even more time talking to myself in my head, which was keeping me up all night, and my friends and family were doing the same.” Bayley explains that after all this time and pressure on society, he just wanted people to turn off their devices. Like in the video to the song, when people just let loose wherever they may be and just seem to enjoy their life while listening to some good music. Glass Animals are currently hitting the road with their sold out Dreamland tour. The first leg kicked off on September 7, and will last until late October. [MUSIC] - Trap

Different between Rap & Trap: Rap is a vocal technique that emphasizes rhyme, rhythm, and individual expression. Rap is one component of the hip-hop subculture, alongside break dancing, graffiti, and DJing. As the most well-known aspect of hip-hop, rap is one of the most important forms of American popular culture. Trap music uses synthesized drums and is characterized by complex hi-hat patterns, tuned kick drums with a long decay (originally from the Roland TR-808 drum machine), and lyrical content that often focuses on drug use and urban violence. In general, you had to post this on the RAP topic, please take care next time.
