  5. In the beginning of the year, British indie-folk band The Staves released their album Good Woman. Now, the sister trio announced their tour for the album. The band will be hitting the road almost exactly a year after releasing the record. The tour will kick off on February 9 at Trees in Dallas, TX at Tree’s and just one day later, on February 10th, at the famous Emo’s in Austin, TX. The tour features a list of dates all over North America, and will ultimately conclude on March 15th, in Los Angeles, CA, at The Theatre at Ace Hotel. You can check out the entire list of tour dates below. Click to see post Mxdwn alt-country album reviewer Blake Michelle says about the album, “Good Woman still contains great vocal chemistry from Emily, Jessia and Camilla that is about worth the price of admission alone. It is impossible not to melt into the soothing cushion of vocals on ‘Next Year, Next Time,’ ‘Sparks’ or ‘Devotion.’” The sisters Emily, Jessica and Camilla Staveley-Taylor, formed the band in 2012 and have released several albums ever since, including the 2015 record If I Was which was partly produced by indie’s Bon Iver. The band’s last album, The Way Is Read, was released in 2017. 6. Earlier this month, Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello announced his second solo album The Atlas Underground Fire. The album is set to drop on October 15th and will be featuring an extensive list of guest stars, including Bruce Springsteen, Eddie Vedder, Bring Me The Horizon and more. In a recent interview with Loudwire Nights, the legendary guitarist revealed some more details about the making of the album. The record will be the sister record to Morello’s debut solo album The Atlas Underground. The genre bending album connected multiple different artists from different genres. Morello revealed throughout the interview that the project helped him work throughout the hard times, especially during the pandemic and lockdowns last year. “During the last year, where much of that year has been spent in lockdown, for me it was a real life raft.” One unexpected inspiration for his new album came in the form of the eccentric hip hop artist Kanye West, according to NME. “I read an interview with Kanye West, who was bragging about the fact that he had recorded vocals for two of his albums on the voice memo on his phone. And I said, ‘Well if it’s good enough for vocals on a Kanye West record, maybe I can record guitar riffs into my phone,’” Morello says. “I just bypassed all the microphones and set my phone on a chair, hit the red dot, and all of a sudden was sending these riffs to engineers and producers around the world — to Springsteen, Eddie Vedder, the Bring Me the Horizon guys and Damian Marley — and created this like, global community of collaborators that, in the midst of a very, very stressful time, was a tremendous lifeline and a way to create.” Morello’s band Rage Against The Machine will be hitting the road next year, kicking off their tour in El Paso, TX. 8. Fans only have to wait a little bit longer until the official release of Lizzie Loveless newest solo album You Don’t Know on September 17th. To shorten the wait, Loveless shared her newest single off the album, “Memory.” The song is the fourth release off the upcoming record. “Window,” “Loveless” and “The Joke” offered a first taste of her newest LP. Loveless was part of the indie-rock band TEEN until the band called it quits in 2019 and went on a short farewell tour. About her newest track, Loveless says, “Memory asks the question where does love go when it’s been lost? Does it get reabsorbed and hide somewhere in the body?” She continues, “And when the memory of someone begins to fade it’s as if you’re losing that person all over again. It’s about the fear of letting go of a love. It’s about losing track of time and whether you are in love, you’re experiencing loss or somewhere in between.” Check out her hazy new track and video below: In the video we see Loveless staring directly into the camera, while being either alone sitting in front of a bathtub, at the dinner table by her self or surrounded by enthusiastic friends. Loveless’ facial impressions remain mostly the same throughout, like she is not really part of the crowd anyway and just in her own private world, gently singing her song and vibing along with it. “Memory” is just that a gentle indie-pop track that leads the listener into a dream-like mindset. With Loveless’ hazy vocals, the songs makes for one perfect indie-pop tune. Lyrics like, “Oh what a painful memory baby /Am I now or in between your love/I never wanted anything/I lost you once I’d do it all again” show the how talented Loveless is when it comes to lyrics and songwriting. 9. Brooklyn singer-songwriter Noah Rauchwerk premieres his new track “Big Mountain” today, under his solo project Wormy. The single, produced by Nathan Stocker of Hippo Campus, will be featured on an LP set to be announced in the near future. The song paints a picture of leaving everything behind, embracing themes of nature and exploration. Leading with atmospheric fuzz, Rauchwerk’s tenderhearted vocals creep in to take a grounded approach to escapism. “I wrote Big Mountain at a point where I felt incredibly uninspired about living in New York,” he explains. Watch the music video for “Big Mountain” here: “A few years back, I had about three months of living in this heightened state of anxiety where my brain was racing constantly and I felt like I was sort of floating, with no control of the fear my brain was leading me into,” the artist shares. “I was so afraid of time passing and the inevitability of human existence (really original, right?).” Lyrics like “Lay a map down on the table / Point out where I want to go” and “I’ll walk until my feet / Tell me they can’t walk anymore,” imagine a recovery, taking fear off of the table and reclaiming control. “Just seeing new places and understanding that your head isn’t the only place you live is incredibly helpful,” he shares. “Even though I don’t think ditching your normal life and going off the grid all alone is going to fix anything, I think the idea of the possibility of that escape is enough to help me through a lot.” Source

  12. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will release B-Sides & Rarities Part 2 on October 22. This will be continuation of 2005’s B-Side & Rarities Part 1 that will be sold on double vinyl, double CD, deluxe double CD and all digital platforms. Both Part 1 & Part 2 will have a limited edition vinyl box set that has 83 rare tracks and exclusive sleeve notes. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will also go to European festivals in the Summer of 2022. Tickets are now on sale. Nick Cave also worked with Warren Willis to make B-Sides & Rarities Part 2 that has 27 original tracks and other that weren’t released from 2006-2020. He will also be doing a UK tour with Willis this Autumn. Tickets are now on sale. The unreleased song “Vortex” that was originally written by various artists back in 2006 is now released. It was apart of B-Sides & Rarities Part 2, but it was never released until now. Nick Cave explains what listeners will hear on B-Sides & Rarities Part 1 & Part 2: “I always liked the original B-Sides & Rarities more than any of our other albums. It’s the only one I’d listen to willingly. It seems more relaxed, even a bit nonsensical in places, but with some beautiful songs throughout. There is something, too, about the smallness of certain songs that is closer to their original spirit. B-Sides & Rarities Part II continues this strange and beautiful collection of lost songs from The Bad Seeds. I love the final side of the last disc because it reveals the small and fragile beginnings of some of my favourite Bad Seeds songs. ‘Waiting For You’ complete with bizarre ‘canning factory’ rhythm track, a gorgeous ‘Life Per Se’ deemed too sad for Skeleton Tree, and ‘Earthlings’ that some consider the finest track of the Ghosteen sessions.” B-SIDES & RARITIES PART I & II PART I VINYL 1: A1. 13. The 2021 edition of Hardly Strictly Bluegrass will feature 15 live-broadcast and 12 pre-recorded performances with three days of music to be broadcast via the festival’s website, Facebook and YouTube from October 1-3. This year’s festival includes returning festival favorites Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle, Mavis Staples and Belá Fleck as well as The Tallest Man On Earth and Las Cafeteras, Lake Street Dive, Andy Shauf, Valerie June and many others. The three-day event will begin at 1pm PST each day. “We did not come to the decision to withdraw our plans for Golden Gate Park lightly, but with the current information we have about the severity of the Delta variant, and given the history and mission of HSB as a free event open to all, we are taking these steps to protect our fans, artists and crew,” said the festival’s producer Sheri Sternberg in a statement. “We are thrilled with the line-up and excited that we are still able to offer fantastic sets from some of the greatest musicians in the world, available for everyone to watch no matter where they are!” The festival organizers have also announced two Bay Area Covid-19 vaccination and testing events. “Community Immunity” is coming to the Bay View Opera House on August 22 and September 12 from 12.00 – 4.00 pm PST. Vaccinations and testing are open to all, musicians and event staff are encouraged to participate. Performers include Spangalang Featuring Tony Lindsay, Skip The Needle & Nic Clark. Source
  14. Jason Isbell has canceled another upcoming performance of his. Isbell has dropped out of his headlining festival performance at Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion in Tennessee after the festival announced that it would not be instituting a vaccine or negative test mandate. Isbell had previously expressed that he requires proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test within 72 hours of his show from anyone who wants to attend. Venues who refuse this requirement will not see the band perform at all. “The Birthplace Of Country Music (BCM) has had numerous conversations with our local, regional and state leaders to assess options available to us concerning the requirement by one of our artists for our patrons to either provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test within 72 hours of attending the festival,” the festival’s organizers said in a statement. “After exploring all options, we have concluded that we cannot impose a vaccine mandate or negative test policy at this time without a state mandate.” Isbell then replied via Twitter, simply saying “We won’t be appearing at the Rhythm and Roots Reunion this year. Y’all be safe!” He recently canceled his upcoming performance in Houston for the venue not complying with his requirement. Source
