Sam Raimi, who helmed Sony's original Spider-Man trilogy, expresses honor of seeing his characters be brought back for Spider-Man: No Way Home. Ever since the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, MCU's Phase 4 has been exploring the Multiverse as one of its next chapters. As Tom Holland's Spider-Man threequel had a lot to finish up following the events of Far From Home, the trilogy finisher also gave three generations of Spidey fans the ultimate wish. After many rumors and denying (particularly from Andrew Garfield,) Spider-Man: No Way Home saw Holland be joined by Garfield and Tobey Maguire for one epic Multiverse adventure. Marvel kept Maguire and Garfield's involvement under wraps during promotion, but made villains like Alfred Molina's Doc Ock and Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin key parts of the marketing campaign. This illustrated early on No Way Home would be a celebration of all the Spider-Man films, paying tribute to nearly 20 years of cinematic history. For those who grew up with the original Raimi trilogy, it was a thrill to see those characters back on the big screen. Raimi has previously opened up about his reaction to Maguire's No Way Home return, and now he talks more about seeing his versions again. Even though Raimi's Spider-Man days may be over, the director is joining the MCU as the helmer of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While this becomes his latest comic book adventure, Raimi had big preach for Spider-Man: No Way Home. In a new interview with Empire Online, the director was about what he felt about seeing Maguire's Peter Parker return alongside his respective villains. Raimi expressed gratitude of seeing his take on the characters from the original Spider-Man trilogy get brought back after all these years, stating the following: “I was honored. It’s like someone said, ‘You know your old friends that have passed away? We’ve found a way to bring them back for a brief time.' Almost as good as having the power of the sun in the palm of your hand, eh?" In many ways, it probably is a bittersweet feeling for Raimi as his time with the original Spider-Man franchise came to an abrupt end. Despite Spider-Man 3 not being a critical success, Sony Pictures was going to have Raimi return for Spider-Man 4, which was originally set to hit theaters in May 2011. But after the behind-the-scenes drama with the studio, the project was scrapped which was how Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man with Garfield came to happen. Regardless of what happened back then, it's still great to hear from Raimi, especially as his Spider-Man franchise became integral to the comic book film genre in the early 2000s. As Doctor Strange 2 is coming, it's been rumored that perhaps Maguire's Spider-Man is somehow showing up for a cameo, which would be the actor's first collaboration with Raimi since 2007. While a rumor could simply be that, it wouldn't be shocking as Doctor Strange 2 is reportedly going to get deep with its Multiverse cameos, supposedly even bigger than Spider-Man: No Way Home. One of them is Patrick Stewart's Professor X, which supports the idea of Maguire's Spider-Man potentially being in the film. While anything is possible, time will tell if Raimi and Maguire will ever get to team up again on any type of Spider-Man adventure, following Spider-Man: No Way Home. Source

Nicolas Cage has commented on whether or not he is interested in returning as Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Cage originally played the Marvel superhero in the 2007 movie Ghost Rider, and then once again in its 2011 sequel Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, though neither film was considered MCU canon. Although the movies were not well received critically, Cage's Ghost Rider is a favorite character for many comic book fans. In the 2007 film, Blaze is a famous motorcycle stunt rider who, after literally making a deal with the devil (specifically Mephistopheles, played by Peter Fonda), gains the powers of the Ghost Rider. Whenever he's in the presence of evil, Blaze is taken over by the Spirit of Vengeance, transforming him into a flaming skeleton with super strength and the ability to turn any object into a fiery weapon. The 2011 Ghost Rider sequel saw Blaze take on the devil himself, this time named Roarke (played by Ciarán Hinds), as he rescued a 10-year-old boy from an unsavory end. In an interview with Comicbook.com about his upcoming film The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Cage was asked whether he has any interest in reprising his role as the Spirit of Vengeance in the MCU. The actor responded with some surprisingly deep insight, sharing his views on the situation by comparing Ghost Rider to the legendary Faust. Stopping short of confirming whether he would ever return as Blaze in the MCU, Cage described Ghost Rider as a "philosophical" and "special" superhero. Read his comments below: "Ghost Rider is an amazing character. I mean, he's a complicated character. It's kind of like, how do you tell the story of Faust within the context of that universe? Because it's a very philosophical character. I think it makes him special from other superheroes." A different iteration of the Ghost Rider character to Cage's was brought into the MCU when Gabriel Luna was introduced as Robbie Reyes in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D season 4 in 2016. However, the MCU Disney+ shows seem to be wiping Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. from official MCU canon, with the Darkhold making an appearance in WandaVision (the Book of the Damned first appeared in Agents, and it looked quite different). Given this separation of Marvel TV and movie projects, it appears that the spot has opened up for the Spirit of Vengeance to ride on in once again, if Cage is open to a potential return. With his flaming motorcycle, his blazing chain-whip and his signature leather jacket, Ghost Rider is one of Marvel's darkest superheroes. Known for taking on the creatures of Hell, the character would definitely bring a dark tone with him to the MCU. Given that the upcoming Moon Knight series seems to be doing just that, and also the fact that Eric Brooks/Blade is coming to the MCU (played by Mahershala Ali), the introduction of Ghost Rider could lead fans to expect a live-action adaptation of the dark superhero team, the Midnight Sons. However, whether Cage will be the actor to make this happen is yet to be seen. Source

Daniel Radcliffe reveals that shooting for the upcoming biopic WEIRD: The 'Weird Al' Yankovic Story was shot in just 18 days. The latest venture for the former Harry Potter star will see Radcliffe as the titular 'Weird Al' Yankovic, the Grammy Award-winning musician who has become renowned for his satirical pastiches of pop-culture and contemporary artists in his music. Directed and co-written by Eric Appel, the film was also co-produced and co-written by Yankovic himself, and will chart the story of the eccentric musician's extraordinary career and unbelievable life, with Radcliffe calling the 'Weird Al' biopic "insane". Although production on the film began back in February, WEIRD: The 'Weird Al' Yankovic Story had its bizarre origins as a fake trailer made by Funny Or Die in 2013, which was also directed by Appel and featured Aaron Paul as Yankovic. However, a genuine 'Weird Al' biopic of the same name was announced in January 2022, featuring Westworld's Evan Rachel Wood as Madonna and The Office's Rainn Wilson as Doctor Demento alongside Radcliffe's Yankovic. Although a specific release date has yet to be announced for the film, as well as any further information on whether the biopic will be released in theaters, filming for WEIRD has now wrapped and is due to premiere on The Roku Channel. Now, Radcliffe has expressed his ardent excitement for the film, as well as revealing a surprising detail about the length of time it took to complete production. In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant while on the SXSW red carpet for The Lost City, the Harry Potter star highlights how "We shot it in 18 days. It was an unbelievably fast shoot, and I don't know quite how we did it." Read his full quote below: I am so excited. It's gonna be the longest wait for something to come out because I am so excited for people to see it. I think it's gonna be really really cool. We shot it in 18 days. It was an unbelievably fast shoot, and I don't know quite how we did it. But I think we did. I think it's gonna be good. Radcliffe's enthusiasm for the project is palpable and his involvement perfectly showcases how the actor has begun to build himself a more eclectic and diverse body of work since bidding farewell to the scarred wizard in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 in 2011. Indeed, his next role will see him portray the international billionaire criminal Abigail Fairfax in the upcoming adventure comedy The Lost City, in which Radcliffe's character kidnaps a bestselling author whose fictional lost city he believes to be real. However, this revelation that production on WEIRD was completed within a mere two and a half weeks, along with Radcliffe admitting that he "[doesn't] know quite how we did it," suggests that the filming process was every bit as unusual as Yankovic himself. For fans who are greatly anticipating the long-awaited 'Weird Al' biopic, the fact that the film finished shooting so quickly will likely come as very welcome news. Not only does it indicate that they will likely not have to wait nearly as long as previously thought to see the final product, but many might see the speediness itself as a sign that the film will possess a manic energy that perfectly represents the eccentricity of its subject. Radcliffe has acknowledged the responsibility of playing Yankovic before and it's clear that doing the man justice was an utmost priority for him. But quite how far the quick-turnaround of filming will help reflect Yankovic's idiosyncratic life will likely not be fully known until WEIRD: The 'Weird Al' Yankovic Story is finally released. Source

Benedict Cumberbatch explains why Doctor Strange isn't an Avenger. MCU's primary sorcerer will soon return on the big screen with his second solo film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Directed by Sam Raimi, the sequel's events are caused by Strange's involvement in Peter Parker's (Tom Holland) issues in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Before that, however, the wizard was also instrumental in defeating Thanos (Josh Brolin). Despite that, he's apparently, not an official member of The Avengers. Stephen Strange was introduced in the final stretch of the Infinity Saga. His arrival in the MCU officially opened the mystical pocket of the universe that's being further explored in Phase 4 with Wanda Maximoff's (Elizabeth Olsen) journey in becoming the Scarlet Witch. Strange had been mostly operating separately from the bigger universe as part of the Masters of the Mystic Arts who silently protects Earth from interdimensional threats. But, when Thanos and his minions came after the Infinity Stones, he needed to team up with the Avengers and other active heroes in the franchise to defeat the villain. Contrary to the assumption that Doctor Strange is now an Avenger, Cumberbatch says that he is not. Talking to KCRW while promoting his critically-acclaimed film, The Power of the Dog, the actor touched on the idea and explained why, technically, he isn't, and it has something to do with his original mandate as a Master of Mystic Arts. Read his full comment below: People say that you were in the Avengers, but you're not an Avenger, right? No, I'm not. I'm not at Stark Tower with Nick Fury. No, he's sort of outside of that realm, but I don't think that's necessarily a character trait. I think that is just a job title. He's there to protect the reality of the Avengers in a different way to what they have been fighting up until the point that everything collides in the last two Avengers movies, so he holds his position as an adult on the periphery of that, but I think only for so long. There's always a moment where he has to work with people and team up. And you know, we might see that in the next film; you have to wait and see. Cumberbatch's reasoning for why Strange isn't an Avenger makes sense. His role as a prominent member of the Masters of the Mystic Arts is already big of a task, and as the multiverse continues to collapse, he needs to focus on that. What's curious is why Wong (Benedict Wong) is seemingly in consistent communication with other deemed Avengers such as Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) and Captain Marvel (Brie Larson)? As seen in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' post-credits scene, the current Sorcerer Supreme is the one maintaining ties with other MCU heroes which they should probably do a much better job with considering Thanos' Avengers: Infinity War win. Strange has been a popular choice to be one of the leaders of the new Avengers moving forward. With Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and Captain America (Chris Evans) no longer in the MCU, Earth's Mightiest Heroes is due for a revamp. Doctor Strange being one of the most powerful heroes in the franchise, not to mention his similarities with Tony Stark gave fans the assumption that he's primed to take on a leadership role in Marvel Studios' premiere superhero team. But, if he isn't an Avenger, then that isn't possible. Source

Noah Hawley reveals to a SXSW attendee that his cancelled Star Trek movie would've starred Cate Blanchett if it had moved forward. Hawley first rose to popularity in the world of television as the creator, executive producer and primary writer of FX's Fargo adaptation, which won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Miniseries in its debut season and has since garnered 113 award nominations and 32 wins across its four seasons. He went on to sign an exclusive production deal with the cable network, which extended to the acclaimed three-season Marvel series Legion and the upcoming Alien series. Hawley has made multiple attempts to break into filmmaking over the years, beginning with penning the script for The Alibi and being tapped to pen the script for an unknown installment in Universal's scrapped Dark Universe and writing and directing the scrapped Doctor Doom movie at 20th Century Fox following Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox. Following the release of his critical and commercial bomb directorial debut, Lucy in the Sky, Hawley was brought on by Paramount to write and direct a fourth Star Trek movie set in J.J. Abram's Kelvin timeline, though would be centered on a new crew. This project would ultimately be canceled by the studio in late 2020 and now the Emmy winner is sharing new details of what could've been for the film. While attending the filmmaker's panel at the South by Southwest Film Festival, Fangoria contributor Brandon Wainerdi shared new details regarding Noah Hawley's cancelled Star Trek movie. Wainerdi revealed he asked the Fargo creator about what could've been in the film, with Hawley revealing that his project would've starred Cate Blanchett. No further details were shared as to who the two-time Oscar winner would've portrayed in the cancelled Star Trek movie. Though the nature of her role in the project is unknown, the possibility of Blanchett starring in Hawley's cancelled Star Trek movie may come as a disappointment that it never came to be. Given the film was set to focus on a crew separate from Chris Pine's Kirk and the U.S.S. Enterprise, it's possible the Oscar winner would've been the captain for a new Starfleet ship within the Kelvin timeline. Blanchett wouldn't have been the first female captain in the franchise, with Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home featuring an unnamed woman while both Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine featured a multitude of said captains and Voyager being memorably led by Kate Mulgrew's Kathryn Janeway. That being said, Noah Hawley's cancelled Star Trek movie could've seen Cate Blanchett return to the villainous side of things for the space-faring adventure. Blanchett notably returned to live-action blockbuster filmmaking for Thor: Ragnarok as primary antagonist Hela, for which she received rave reviews for, and has played a number of other villains over the years, including Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull's Irina Spalko. Though Hawley's Star Trek movie never got to be, audiences can at least look forward to Pine and co. returning for a proper fourth installment in the Kelvin timeline in the near future. Source

Matt Bomer may be joining the cast of Bradley Cooper's new Netflix biopic about Leonard Bernstein, Maestro. A follow-up to his directorial debut, A Star Is Born, Cooper also co-wrote the script for Maestro with Spotlight penman, Josh Singer, and will be starring as the famous conductor as well. The biopic will be produced by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, alongside Kristie Macosko Krieger, Fred Berner and Amy Durning. Though Bernstein has a staggering amount of accomplishments and accolades, Maestro's story will focus heavily on the complicated union between him and his wife Felicia, who will be played by Promising Young Woman's Carey Mulligan. Now, Deadline reports that Bomer is in early talks to join the biographical drama's cast. However, the American Horror Stories star's specific role in Maestro has yet to be revealed. Netflix has also not yet responded to the report. Given Maestro is set to span a period of over 30 years, it is difficult to speculate on who Bomer may be playing in Cooper's biopic if his casting is confirmed. Since starring in the hit TV show White Collar, Bomer has scored several high-profile credits. The actor has graced the small screen several times, appearing in American Horror Story, The Sinner, and most recently, Doom Patrol. As for film, Bomer well known for playing Ken in both Magic Mike movies, as well as Donald in Netflix's The Boys In The Band. Now, Maestro looks to be Bomer's next big film project, and with filming set to begin in May of this year, more official details about his role are likely to be released soon. Source

Shazam! director David F. Sandberg confesses he is still bothered by a visual effects mistake from the original film three years later. The 2019 movie marked the DC Extended Universe debut of Billy Batson, an orphaned teenager who is chosen by the ancient wizard Shazam to be the new champion and defender of Earth by transforming into the adult superhero of the same name. While attempting to get a grip on his various new powers with foster brother Freddy Freeman, Batson must grapple with the evil Dr. Thaddeus Sivana as he becomes the human host for the Seven Deadly Sins and embarks on a quest for power. Asher Angel and Zachary Levi led the cast of Shazam! as Billy and his adult iteration alongside Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy, Mark Strong as Sivana, Djimon Hounsou as the wizard Shazam, Faithe Herman, Grace Fulton, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Marta Milans and Cooper Andrews. Hitting theaters in early 2019, the film received largely positive reviews from critics and audiences alike for its lighter tone compared to other DCEU efforts, Sandberg's direction and the performances of Levi, Angel and Grazer. Though Shazam! saw this acclaimed reception, one creative is a little more self-critical of his work. In response to the pitch of speeding through post-production on his upcoming sequel, Shazam! director David F. Sandberg took to Twitter to confess he is still bothered by a VFX mistake in the original film three years after it released. The mistake stems from the scene in which Sivana attacks his father, brother and company boardroom with the Seven Deadly Sins, with a slight bluescreen feathering visible around Mark Strong's hand upon a zoomed-in look at the shot. See Sandberg's post and the mistake below: Click here to see the original post Visual effects are one of the trickiest elements of any film to properly execute in attempting to believably capture what is trying to be digitally recreated. To Sandberg's credit, the Shazam! VFX mistake he points out is a very minimal and easy-to-miss moment that likely has only been caught by the most eagle-eyed of viewers as well as those already holding a knowledge of visual effects artistry. The fact that the director had to zoom in to properly highlight the mistake shows how small it was, but also speaks volumes to the dedication he brings to his craft. Outside of the VFX mistake, it should come as a soothing note that the Shazam! director would prefer to take his chances at the box office against the long-gestating Avatar 2 than rush through post-production and risk another error. This VFX work recently resulted in a major shuffling of DCEU titles, with Shazam! Fury of the Gods moving up from 2023 to a December 2022 release while both The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom were delayed to next year while they work on their effects. While audiences wait for the return of Levi's hero, they can revisit the original Shazam! streaming on HBO Max now. Source

Saw 10 writer Josh Stolberg shares an update on the new movie's status, noting it hasn't been greenlit yet but teasing his excitement for the script. Stolberg first joined the long-running horror franchise with 2017's Jigsaw, which served as a revival of the series as police rush to investigate a new series of murders that seem to fit the titular killer's modus operandi, despite having been dead for almost a decade. Though receiving generally negative reviews from critics, Jigsaw was seen as an improvement from its predecessor and was a box office success, grossing over $103 million against its $10 million budget. This success would lead Lionsgate to keeping the ball rolling with Spiral: From the Book of Saw, a spin-off installment in the franchise with Stolberg re-teaming with Peter Goldfinger to pen the script on a story concept from star Chris Rock. Released in theaters in May2021, the film received similarly mixed-to-negative reviews as Jigsaw and was a modest box office success, grossing over $40 million against its $20 million budget amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Though various talks of a Saw 10 have emerged both before and after Spiral's release, it looks like it may be some time before the next installment rears its head. In response to a fan's question regarding a fan-made poster on Twitter, Josh Stolberg shared an update on the status of Saw 10. The screenwriter said he couldn't comment on the potential project as neither Twisted Pictures or Lionsgate have officially announced plans for it, but teased the potential heights the film will go. Check out Stolberg's update below: Click here to see the original post Stolberg's Saw 10 update may come as a disappointment for those eager to see the horror franchise return to the big screen, but it's also a largely understandable one. Word first began swirling in April 2021, a month ahead of Spiral's release, that Saw 10 was confirmed to be in the works at Twisted Pictures as a production listing from Production Weekly stated it was in active development with James Wan's Atomic Monster attached to produce alongside Twisted and Lionsgate. This would initially be downplayed by director Darren Lynn Bousman, however, as he noted it was a "premature announcement" that caught him and the producers off-guard and that the studio was waiting to see how Spiral performed before confirming a new installment. In the months since this seeming confirmation, Stolberg has confirmed development on Saw 10 at various points, including teasing the return of Tobin Bell's Jigsaw. While his new update seemingly points towards the creatives behind the franchise awaiting word from the studio on the potential to move forward, Stolberg's new tease that it's his favorite of the three Saw films he's written thus far should come as an exciting prospect for the potential sequel. In the meantime, audiences can catch up with Spiral: From the Book of Saw streaming on Starz now. Source

A new Oppenheimer set photo shows stars Cillian Murphy and Matt Damon working on the next Christopher Nolan movie. The popular blockbuster filmmaker is switching gears after the high-concept Tenet, adapting the biography American Prometheus to tell the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer. With frequent Nolan collaborator Murphy cast in the title role, Oppenheimer is scheduled to release theatrically on July 21, 2023. The film will be Nolan's first under his new deal with Universal Studios, following a much-publicized rift between him and Warner Bros. over their 2021 HBO Max release strategy, and the change of distributor has in no way hampered the filmmaker's ability to attract A-list talent. Oppenheimer's cast has grown to almost absurd proportions - in addition to Murphy and Damon, the project's actors include Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, and Kenneth Branagh, to name but a few. The movie will center primarily on Oppenheimer's involvement with the Manhattan Project, which resulted in him being one of those called the "father of the atomic bomb." Now, a new Oppenheimer set photo shared by @FilmOppenheimer captures Murphy and Damon in action on the Nolan movie. The image shows the two in costume as Oppenheimer and Manhattan Project director Leslie Groves, respectively, as they stand in front of a podium. The photo also captures the production using an IMAX camera, something that has become a trademark of Nolan's filmmaking since 2008's The Dark Knight. Check out the image below: Click here to see the original post Many fans are eager to see what Nolan will make of Oppenheimer, which presents an opportunity to stand out from his recent filmography. While already the move away from science fiction is notable, a biography of a theoretical physicist presents very different constraints from his previous WWII-era project, the tense war-thriller Dunkirk. Nolan can be counted on to avoid the typical biopic formula trappings, but he could choose to either lean into technically stunning depictions of atomic blasts, as his audience might expect, or produce a quieter, character-driven drama. Whatever Oppenheimer turns out to be like, one virtual certainty is that audiences will flock to see it if they're able. Nolan is one of the few remaining filmmakers who can command big budgets for non-IP blockbusters, and while Tenet might be synonymous with the box-office catastrophe that is the pandemic era, it still finished as the fifth-highest-grossing movie of 2020 worldwide. Given that Oppenheimer only costs half as much to make at $100 million, Universal should expect to make a tidy profit when it hits theaters. Source

Anne Hathaway's impersonation of Lady Gaga in House of Gucci blew Jared Leto away. Directed by the incomparable Ridley Scott, the true-crime film premiered in theaters this past Thanksgiving and took in a box office haul of $152 million. Based on the 2001 book by Sara Gay Forden, the story follows Italian socialite Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga), who plots the murder of her husband, Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver), in order to take over control of the iconic fashion brand. In a nearly unrecognizable turn, Leto stars as Paolo Gucci, the one-time chief designer and vice-president of the fashion house. After Gucci, Leto moved on to his next project, WeCrashed, in which he stars as Adam Neumann, co-founder of WeWork, alongside Hathaway as his wife Rebekah. Based on a Wondery podcast, the Apple TV+ limited series chronicles the greed-filled rise and inevitable fall of the real-estate startup. Once again, Leto is garnering praise for his capturing the spirit of a real-life figure, including Neumann's distinct Isreali accent. Other than its two Oscar-winning leads, WeCrashed also stars America Ferrera, Kyle Marvin, and O-T Fagbenle. During an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Hathaway shared a hilarious story about how she trolled Leto with a Gaga impersonation on the set of WeCrashed. It was on the day the House of Gucci trailer dropped and Hathaway and Leto had just finished an intense day of filming when the actress surprised him with an impromptu performance of Gaga's House of Gucci prayer, reenacting the sign of the cross and her famous Italian accent. Read Hathaway's full account below: I really respect Jared's process, and I had a wonderful time working with whoever that was, and we really created the most beautiful connection between us. The day the House of Gucci trailer came out, I mean, I had to do something. I couldn't just let it be. [I said], "Just one more thing," and I go, "Father, Son, House of Gucci," because you have to! Because Leto is well-known for his intensity on set, Hathaway didn't know what to expect when she surprised him with the impression, though she was delighted to get him to break character momentarily. In fact, Hathaway revealed that she didn't fully meet Leto out of character until they were finished filming WeCrashed and the series premiered at SXSW. Because Leto is famous for his serious method acting and commitment to staying in character, with some of his unusual methods sparking controversy, it makes Hathaway's prank all that much funnier. Though Lady Gaga's performance in House of Gucci has been showered with endless praise, she was snubbed for Actress in a Leading Role at the 2022 Academy Awards. Many speculated that Kristen Stewart could have egdged Gaga out with her role as Princess Diana in Spencer. Because Gaga also employs an intense method acting process, her dramatic roles are generally few and far between, though she should be back in a year or so to chase that highly coveted Oscar prize. Until then, Hathaway and Leto can be seen in WeCrashed, premiering with three episodes on March 18. Source

Following a nearly three-year hiatus, Star Wars has released a poster featuring many of the franchise’s characters to promote the Star Wars Celebration convention’s upcoming return at the end of May. Star Wars Celebration is one of the franchise’s most anticipated events as a convention that brings Star Wars fans from around the world together to celebrate their shared love of the franchise. Celebration treats attendees to meet-and-greets with stars of the franchise, access to exclusive Star Wars merchandise, information about upcoming Star Wars content, and more. The convention moves from location to location around the world and has been confirmed to be taking place in Anaheim, California this year. As is commonplace for Star Wars Celebration, a poster promoting the event has been released. Since Disney’s acquisition of Star Wars, the Celebration posters have typically featured a variety of characters from the sequel trilogy of films. With Celebration 2022’s poster, however, this is no longer the case. Characters like Rey (Daisy Ridley), Kylo Ren/Ben Solo (Adam Driver), and Finn (John Boyega) are no longer at the franchise’s forefront, as the Celebration 2022 poster reveals. Revealed via StarWars Celebration, attendees and non-attendees of Star Wars Celebration 2022 can view the new poster highlighting the upcoming convention. Unlike past posters for the event, characters from recent live-action Star Wars media like The Mandalorian and The Book Of Boba Fett are front and center in the new poster. Other important characters from Star Wars, such as Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, and BB-8 are also featured in the Celebration 2022 poster. The reveal of the poster comes alongside a variety of other merchandise that will be exclusive to Celebration 2022, such as t-shirts and hats to celebrate the twenty-year anniversary of Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones this year. Check out the full poster below: With the recent success of The Book Of Boba Fett, it is unsurprising that the Star Wars Celebration 2022 poster highlights characters who were featured prominently in the series. During The Book of Boba Fett’s latter half, Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) crossed over from his own show, The Mandalorian, to assist Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison). The Celebration 2022 poster also features Grogu and Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), who appeared during The Book Of Boba Fett as well. Dawson is confirmed to be reprising her Ahsoka Tano role in the upcoming series, Ahsoka, that’s rumored to be coming in 2023. Alongside Star Wars Celebration 2022, the highly anticipated series, Obi-Wan Kenobi, is also set to release in May 2022. Obi-Wan Kenobi will feature Ewan McGregor’s return to the iconic Obi-Wan Kenobi role. Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker is also set to appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi played by Hayden Christensen, who played the role during Attack Of The Clones and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith. Even Darth Maul, another of Kenobi’s legendary adversaries from the Star Wars franchise, appears on the Celebration 2022 poster. With a variety of highly anticipated Star Wars shows such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Mandalorian season 3, and Ahsoka on the horizon, Star Wars Celebration 2022 will certainly be an exciting time for the franchise. Harry Potter fans have posted a skit on Tiktok imagining how the characters of the franchise would interact with muggle lawyers. Though it has been over 10 years since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 hit theaters, and almost 15 years since the release of J.K. Rowling's last novel, the Harry Potter franchise has maintained its incredibly loyal fanbase, and inspired countless spinoffs and adaptations, such as the Tony-winning play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and the Fantastic Beasts film series. The franchise began all the way back in 1997 with the publishing of the first novel, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The series follows the titular Harry as he discovers the world of magic through his attendance at Hogwarts, and learns more about his own complicated past. Even casual Harry Potter fans will know that the term "muggle" is used to describe those without any magical ability, such as the Dursleys or Hermione Granger's parents. Though muggles are largely ignorant of Harry Potter's wizarding world in the iconic series, a select few are aware of its operations due to their connections with witches or wizards. Now, a new video from TikTok account billyandchet imagines how two muggle lawyers might deal with the various legal issues of the wizarding world. In strong Boston accents, the two men recreate imagined conversations with Harry Potter characters, offering their advice. The "lawyers" deal with everything from how the rules of Quidditch are an insurance nightmare due to the lack of safety precautions taken, to daring a judge to order a warrant to search the Forbidden Forest. CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE ORIGINAL TIKTOK VIDEO If anything, this TikTok highlights many interesting narrative elements that fans have long pointed out. The video's reference to the extreme risks of Quidditch, the Weasley's flying car, and Hagrid's general aptitude for keeping potentially harmful magical creatures shows just how dangerous the circumstances that Harry and his fellow young Hogwarts' often find themselves in, without ever questioning it. The video also offers a unique take on a Harry Potter parody, told from the muggle perspective looking in, rather than the more common other way around. This new clip is by no means the first to parody the relationship between Harry Potter's muggles and wizardry. With Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore on the way, and with The Cursed Child recently reopening on Broadway, the franchise remains one of the most familiar names in pop culture and is the source of countless fan-made videos and art. Though the Fantastic Beasts movies have been less well-received than their original Harry Potter predecessors, they succeed in keeping the franchise alive and relevant, alongside fun and imaginative videos just like these. A uniquely designed Captain America shield — featuring the signatures of Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan and Wyatt Russell — is part of a raffle benefiting the Northeast New York chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. All four actors have wielded the iconic symbol throughout the course of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Evans played the original Captain America, Steve Rogers, while Mackie's Sam Wilson later took up the mantle following the events of Avengers: Endgame. Stan continues to play Cap's trusted friend, Bucky Barnes (aka the Winter Soldier), while Russell joins the fray as U.S. Agent., another incarnation of the hero, introduced in the 2021 Disney+ series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The Captain America saga is expected to continue with a Captain America 4 film, which is currently in development at Marvel Studios. There aren't many details about the new project available at the moment, aside from Mackie reprising his role and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier writers Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson penning the script. Marvel has also yet to confirm the Captain American 4 release date, specific plot elements, or other cast members. Nonetheless, the four main stars of the Captain America series continue to remain connected with the character, even while venturing off into their other respective projects. Evans, Mackie, Stan and Russell recently partnered with Make-A-Wish Northeast New York to raffle a custom-made shield, designed with the symbols of Captain America, the Winter Soldier and U.S. Agent. Each actor signed their respective section of the 25-inch shield, while Evans' name graces the star in the middle. Check out photos of Stan and Evans posing with the signed shield below. Click here to the view original post Playing a Marvel character is certainly a role one signs onto for a lifetime. While Evans for the most part has hung up the shield in the MCU for good, he'll forever be known as Steve Rogers to most fans. However, Mackie and Russell's legacies in their respective roles are just beginning, and Stan, despite having never assumed the role of Captain America himself, will always be an integral player in the iconic hero's overall arc. It is heartwarming to see the actors using their notoriety for charity, and especially amusing to see Stan posing with the shield in his Tommy Lee get-up, as the actor seems to have posed for the photo amid filming for Pam & Tommy. Beyond the autographs and the charitable cause the Cap shield is going toward, the item itself is impressive on its own. The design is a creative tribute to not just Captain America, but to the supporting characters who have helped to shape his storyline. One thing is for sure, whoever wins the Captain America shield on March 26 will have quite the enviable item to add to their collection. Source

Keeping Wolverine a Canadian made X-Men movie writer David Hayter proud after the studio behind the film asked for the character to be American. Development on the 2000 superhero film had lingered in development hell for nearly 20 years, first beginning at Orion Pictures with James Cameron and Kathryn Bigelow in talks at various points before 20th Century Fox acquired the rights and underwent multiple treatments from writers including Andrew Kevin Walker, John Logan, Joss Whedon and Michael Chabon. X-Men would eventually move forward with Bryan Singer at the helm and a script primarily from Hayter with rewrites contributed by Ed Solomon, Singer, Christopher McQuarrie and Tom DeSanto, the latter of whom would retain a co-story credit. X-Men hit the scene to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike for its performances, story and themes and was a box office smash, grossing over $296.3 million against its $75 million budget. In addition to spawning its own franchise, this success would contribute to the reemergence of superhero films alongside Wesley Snipes' Blade trilogy and Sam Raimi's Spider-Man and was the career launchpad for much of its cast, namely Hugh Jackman in his Hollywood debut as Wolverine. Though the adaptation of the character was largely well-received, the studio behind X-Men originally had other ideas for bringing him to the screen for the first time. David Hayter recently caught up with Inverse for an oral history of Wolverine and the making of the X-Men movie. When reflecting on writing the fan-favorite superhero, Hayter recalled having been called into the studio to discuss changing his roots to American, but that he stood his ground to keep Wolverine Canadian, which made him proud. See what Hayter shared below: "By the way, one of the proudest moments I had on the first film was when I was called into one of the producers' offices and they said to me, 'Hey, can we just find Wolverine in Alaska instead of Alberta and make him American?' I knew this was coming, but I was ready. I told them, 'Everybody knows that Wolverine is Canadian and the fans will kill you.' I had no power in this situation, but I stood my ground and he stayed Canadian. I don't like to call myself a true Canadian hero, though. I'll leave that to others." As Hayter notes, Wolverine's comic book roots saw him born in Alberta, Canada in the late 19th century and lived much of his early life in various regions of the country, including a mining colony in the Yukon and being enlisted by the Canadian military for World War I. Though it's unclear what stage of development the X-Men movie was at when Hayter was asked to change the character's home country, it is interesting to note the film's adaptation of the character still ran into some controversy amongst comic book fans. After originally casting Dougray Scott in the role, Hugh Jackman would ultimately be cast for Wolverine in X-Men, which drew criticism for the difference in height as the Australian actor stands a full foot taller than his comic book counterpart. Much like the initial backlash towards Michael Keaton's casting as Batman, comic book fans would take back their critiques as Jackman's Wolverine in the X-Men movie would receive rave reviews. Jackman would carry the role on through every film in Fox's X-Men franchise, save for its final two installments Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants, and previously held the Guinness World Record for the longest career as a live-action Marvel superhero before being surpassed by Tobey Maguire and Willem Dafoe with Spider-Man: No Way Home. Audiences can revisit all of Jackman's turns as Wolverine streaming on Disney+ now. Source

Spider-Man: No Way Home VFX Supervisor Brendan Seal explained why Jamie Foxx's Electro's powers were limited when compared to his original appearance. Foxx made his return along with fellowing The Amazing Spider-Man series stars Andrew Garfield and Rhys Ifans in the 2021 Marvel film. Spider-Man: No Way Home marked the conclusion to Tom Holland and Jon Watt's Spider-Man trilogy. In Spider-Man: No Way Home, after Doctor Strange's (Benedict Cumberbatch) spell is altered by Peter Parker (Holland), villains who know the hero's identity from across the Multiverse are transported into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After encountering Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina) and Green Goblin (Willem Defoe), Strange brings Parker back to the Sanctum Sanctorum, enlisting the help of MJ (Zendaya) and Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) to capture the villains. Electro is the first villain the team tracks, finding him absorbing electricity from powerlines. With a drastically altered design from his original look, Electro causes trouble for the hero following a sneak attack by the Goblin, ultimately leading to Peter joining forces with Variants of himself from across the Multiverse in the form of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Men to make things right. It wasn't just his appearance that saw a change, as Seal explained that Electro's powers were changed for his MCU debut. In an interview with IGN, Seal explained that they had to adjust Electro's powers to fit the narrative. Seal elaborated that Electro's abilities featured in the film were limited when compared to his appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 so that it would be easier to believe Holland's Spider-Man could face him. In order to limit his powers, Electro had to be tethered to the power lines to acquire the electricity necessary to fight back. Check out Seal's full response below: "You've got to be mindful in the design process that you don't come up with so many abilities or lack of constraints that it seems like Spider-Man would have just no hope of beating him. In other words, Electro can't move too far away from the power lines because then he won't have his power source any longer. So he was, in a way, tethered to those power lines, meaning he couldn't go as far as Spider-Man could." Spider-Man No Way Home Tom Holland as Spider-Man and Jamie Foxx as Electro first encounter Fellow VFX supervisor Chris Waegner previously discussed Electro's changes in January 2022, stating that they chose to change Electro's appearance to better fit his role in No Way Home. Explaining how they researched different lighting references both real and from the comic books, Waegner said that Electro was intended to be more of a threat in the film, while also allowing his scenes to be visually satisfying. The new updates are a far cry from his appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, where Electro was a blue entity composed of electricity, which was mostly seen in his introduction in No Way Home. While close to his appearance from the Ultimate Spider-Man storyline, Electro's look in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was a point of controversy for fans. With a chance to revisit the character, Electro's redesign in Spider-Man: No Way Home was welcomed not only by fans, but also by Foxx himself. Not only is his appearance closer to the villain's green and yellow outfit, but from Seal's interview, it is clear that a lot of thought was placed into the decision to best fit the narrative. As such, Spider-Man: No Way Home was able to be a well-planned celebration of the hero's cinematic history that respects what came before, both well-received and controversial. Source

The Batman director Matt Reeves has admitted that he was “devastated” when he first learned that Robert Pattinson had joined the cast of Christopher Nolan’s Tenet. Nolan, who had also helmed The Dark Knight trilogy featuring Christian Bale as Gotham’s vigilante protector, wrote and directed the 2020 sci-fi thriller Tenet. In the film, Pattinson plays CIA handler Neil. Pattinson’s casting was first announced in March 2019, roughly the same time that Reeves had begun preparations for The Batman following the departure of Ben Affleck from the role. After seeing Pattinson in the 2017 crime drama Good Time, Reeves had written the script for his reinvention of the Batman franchise specifically with Pattinson in mind for the role of Bruce Wayne. While other actors Nicholas Hoult, Armie Hammer and Aaron Taylor-Johnson were all on the initial shortlist, only Hoult and Pattinson were screen-tested for the role. Pattinson has said that he was initially so nervous about telling Nolan he was auditioning for The Batman that he lied to the director about having a “family emergency” when he needed to fly out for the initial screen test. Nolan, however, quickly saw through the ruse and ended up providing the actor with advice about getting more movement from the Batsuit. Despite Pattinson being so keen on landing the iconic role that he decided to fib about his audition, it would seem that Reeves was concerned the actor may not even be interested in The Batman at all. In a recent interview with ReelBlend Podcast (via Comicbook), Reeves admitted that when he learned about Pattinson landing his role in Tenet, he was “devastated,” worrying the actor would not consider taking on The Batman after working with Nolan. Read Reeves' full comments below: "I mean, [Nolan] had a high bar to try to clear, to try to come up to, to try to even come close to meeting. I was aware that he was doing Tenet, and I thought that was really cool. In fact, I was a little ... Let me tell you how it really affected me. I wrote the story, I wrote this script with Rob in mind. I wanted him to be my Batman. I had no idea if he was gonna be Batman, and when it was announced that he was cast by Chris in Tenet, I was devastated. I was convinced – because he'd been doing all of these art films and he'd been working with all these interesting filmmakers ... If he's gonna do a blockbuster, will it be Batman and would he do more than one? When he's doing a blockbuster with one of the definitive Batman filmmakers, I thought, 'Okay, so there goes that. He's not gonna want to be Batman." Reeves’ fears turned out to be unfounded, and Pattinson’s performance as Batman is currently receiving largely positive reactions from audiences worldwide. Praised for his unique take on the role, inspired in part by the late Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain, Pattinson has delivered a Bruce Wayne unlike any live-action iteration that has been seen on screen before. Highlighting Batman’s detective prowess, and delving into the psychological repercussions of his dual identities, The Batman is so far set to become another major success for Warner Bros.’ flagship DC character. Now that The Batman has enjoyed a massive opening, surpassing weekend box office takings for Nolan’s Batman Begins in a single day, it will be hard for audiences to consider what the film would have looked like without Pattinson. As talented an actor as Hoult is, Reeves himself admits to writing the role with Pattinson in mind, and may have had a much harder time adjusting to the role with a new actor as a consequence. In good news for both Reeves and The Batman's adoring fans, however, Pattinson’s casting in Tenet did not end up excluding him from working on the latest box office hit. Source
