Dropkick Murphys have released a statement about their upcoming St. Patrick’s Day Tour, which will take place from February 21 through March 20. Vocalist Al Barr will not join the rest of the band for their performances in their tour due to his mother’s recent diagnosis of Lewy Body Dementia. Vocalist Ken Casey will be performing in place of Barr, with openers Jesse Ahern, The Rumjacks’ Mikey Rivkees, and The Bombpops’ Jen Razavi on select songs. Dropkick Murphys’ tour will begin in Reading, Pennsylvania on February 21, and conclude with four hometown shows in Boston, Massachusetts before beginning again in June for their European tour. The latter tour will begin June 7 in Bergen, Norway, and end in February, 2023 in Mannheim, Germany. The following statement was released by Dropkick Murphys announcing the change in performers for their upcoming tour. Hello everyone – We’ve been hard at work rehearsing for the first St. Patrick’s Day Tour in THREE YEARS. This morning, we have very sad news to tell you. Over the last few months, Al’s mother, Ingrid, has suffered a series of strokes. She has also been diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. Al, his sister and wife have been caring for Ingrid round the clock for months. Please join all of us in holding Ingrid in your prayers. Dropkick Murphys have always been about FAMILY. And in the spirit of FAMILY FIRST, Al has had to make the very difficult decision to stay home for the rest of the year to care for his Mom, so he will not be with us on the upcoming tour or in Europe this summer. We appreciate your compassion for Al’s family, and we know as part of our family you will understand and support us in dealing with these difficult times. THE SHOW WILL GO ON with Ken covering most of Al’s parts…along with some special guests like Jesse Ahern, Mikey Rivkees from The Rumjacks and Jen Razavi from The Bombpops joining us on vocals as well. Al will be cheering us on from home – and we will see each and every one of you starting next Monday when the tour kicks off in Reading, PA!! Love, Dropkick Murphys Source

Kurt Vile has announced the upcoming release of his new album, titled watch my moves, on April 15. The band released the first single, “Like Exploding Stones,” on Tuesday. Recorded at OKV Central, the album was self-produced with the help of Rob Schnapf and consists of 14 original songs and a version of Bruce Springsteen’s “Wages of Sin.” Speaking of his sound in his ninth album, Vile said, “It’s about songwriting. It’s about lyrics. It’s about being the master of all domains in the music. I’m always thinking about catchy music, even though it’s fried, or sizzled, out. It’s my own version of a classic thing—it’s moving forward and backward at the same time.” Vile and The Violators will begin a U.S. tour in the spring, as ell as a European tour in the summer, in support of the album. They will begin April 26 in Norfolk, Virginia, and conclude the nationwide tour in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 4. The European tour will begin in Bath, United Kingdom on August 27, and conclude on September 20 in Paris, France. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is getting a series of spinoffs focused on the franchise’s various villains. TMNT began life in the 1980s as an underground comic book from creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird and later became a massive franchise encompassing multiple media. The early popularity of Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo of course grabbed the eye of Hollywood and led to 1990’s live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theatrical film. Five more big screen TMNT projects would follow: a pair of direct sequels in 1991 and 1993 and a Michael Bay-produced reboot in 2014 that led to the 2016 sequel Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Now there is set to be another start-over for the franchise as Seth Rogen takes on the role of producing a computer animated TMNT movie set for 2023 release while a separate live-action film is also in development that boasts SNL regular Colin Jost and his brother Casey as writers. Now it turns out those two movie projects are not all that TMNT fans have to look forward to in the coming years. As just revealed at Paramount’s Investor Event (via Culture Crave), plans are moving ahead for a series of TMNT spinoffs focused on the franchise’s villains. Instead of releasing on the big screen, the spinoffs will arrive on the Paramount+ streaming service. Given the long history of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles across various types of media, it’s no surprise that there’s by now a lengthy list of villainous characters for these new spinoffs to draw from. The Shredder is of course probably the most notorious of all TMNT bad guys, but there are other intriguing figures who could be in line to head a spinoff of their own, including Baxter Stockman, Bebop And Rocksteady, Krang, The Rat King, The Triceratons, Hun, Karai and numerous more. Of course it’s long been the tendency for owners of valuable IP to craft as much content as they can around those brands until the money well finally runs dry. But with streaming now entering the picture, studios are further ramping up their efforts to expand their various content universes as much as possible. It’s clear that Paramount is banking on TMNT being a major player for them as they build up a roster of shows for their Paramount+ streaming network. Nostalgia obviously is a big factor when it comes to TMNT, as the property has been around since the 1980s, meaning multiple generations of fans have grown up on the exploits of the titular turtles. The villains of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles now get their chance to take some of the spotlight away from those heroes in a half-shell as Paramount endeavors to get maximum value out of one of their most popular properties. Warning: Contains spoilers for Peacemaker. The anticipated finale for Peacemaker arrives on Thursday, February 17, and there are many theories on what James Gunn's supposedly shocking ending will include. The HBO Max hit series follows the events of Peacemaker (John Cena), picking up after the events of The Suicide Squad, showing his involvement with ARGUS's secret Project Butterfly mission. In Project Butterfly, a group dubbing themselves the "11th Street Kids" after Finnish glam metal band Hanoi Rocks' popular song hunts parasitic alien creatures plotting world domination. Peacemaker displays James Gunn's classic charm, from its over-the-top gore to a delightfully campy '80s hair metal soundtrack. Because of this, the show is keeping a healthy fan base—likely good news for the future of Cena's character. However, with all of its silliness, Peacemaker takes the Guardians of the Galaxy's tricks of mixing serious, heartfelt moments into the show's goofy nature and elevates things a step further. For example, episode 7, "Stop Dragon My Heart Around" gives a climactic resolution to the strained relationship between Peacemaker and his father Auggie Smith (Robert Patrick), a white supremacist terrorist named The White Dragon. All of the care and tension put into Peacemaker leads itself to an eventful ending. James Gunn is building up a massive shock for Peacemaker's upcoming finale, going so far as to withhold the eighth episode from critics and members of the media in order to prevent accidental spoiler leaks. The Peacemaker sneak peek promo reveals that the finale, titled "It's Cow or Never," will center around the 11th Street Kids infiltrating the secret Butterfly hideout for the Cow, the producer of the Butterfly's nectar source in Peacemaker. Episode 7 essentially ends Peacemaker's white supremacist threat and, surprisingly, kills of Clemson Murn (Chuckwudi Iwuji), strengthening the show's primary objective of stopping the Butterflies. The following questions remain in Peacemaker, and they could all be answered in the finale. Judomaster's Butterfly Secret Is Revealed It feels like the Butterflies are a pretty undeniable threat for the human race, so it's hard to imagine whatever else could be revealed about them that would contradict this idea. Nonetheless, Judomaster (Nhut Le) tells Peacemaker that the "Butterflies [are] not what you think," leaving viewers to wonder what else the Butterflies' motives could be. Having worked closely with Senator Royland Goff (Antonio Cupo), who was formerly inhabited by the Butterfly leader Eek Stack Ik Ik, Judomaster would know quite a bit of insider information about the Butterflies. The Peacemaker Butterfly mystery remains unanswered, and considering how deliberate Judomaster's comments seemed, it's likely to be mentioned again in the finale. It's still entirely possible that he was lied to - the Butterflies display time and again that they make calculated actions to better their motives, from who they choose as their hosts to how effectively they've spread throughout the world. One particular instance showing this is Eek Stack Ik Ik choosing Detective Sophie Song (Annie Chang) instead of the closer-by Vigilante (Freddie Stroma) when she escaped from the jar. She likely recognizes the power a police detective could bring instead of a black ops cape, even though she knows Vigilante better. All things considered, Judomaster's comments need to be explained in the finale, and the possibilities of what he meant by them are boundless. The Cow Transforms Into A Giant Butterfly Arguably the DCEU's most outrageous new character, Peacemaker's Cow strongly resembles a giant caterpillar. While caterpillars go through a chrysalis phase before becoming a butterfly, it wouldn't be entirely out of bounds for Peacemaker to transform the creature into a Butterfly in a drastic, gruesome way anyway. Killing the Cow is a singular objective that, if done successfully, could make the ending almost too complete. While Peacemaker season 2 isn't yet confirmed, it'll likely happen considering the show's popularity, and an open-ended finale will give itself fodder for future episodes. Supporting the Cow transformation theory are Peacemaker's references to Mothra-like creatures that might not just refer to the Butterflies themselves. With that said, the Butterflies do begin to transport the Cow in episode 7. Such a mission could still be infiltrated by a possibly set-up Peacemaker Butterfly betrayal, yet this doesn't guarantee either the escape or death of the Cow. The Cow transforming into a Butterfly would be bizarre and big enough for Gunn to take extra measures of secrecy, and it could possibly connect to Judomaster's comments somehow. The more likely situation is the Cow escaping in general. If the Cow does die in the finale, however, Peacemaker could still present new Butterfly mysteries to keep the show alive for the future. Suicide Squad Cameos: Task Force X Members Appear In Peacemaker's Finale James Gunn expressed favor for The Suicide Squad releasing on HBO Max after initially being wary about the move, because it brought more subscribers to the streaming platform and therefore helped Peacemaker get the green light. With the success of both projects, Gunn is reportedly in talks with DC to produce another TV show. Peacemaker's Amanda Waller lost relevancy in the show, but the finale could change that, especially if it sets up a potential show. Waller is the bedrock of the Suicide Squad franchise, being the catalyst for missions and characters in both the 2016 film, the 2021 reboot, and Peacemaker. Other members of The Suicide Squad could also make a finale appearance. For example, a possible cameo is Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn, but it would likely be less out of plot development and more out of fan service and setup for a spin-off. Another living Suicide Squad member on US soil is King Shark (Sylvester Stallone), who would be a fun cameo. It's unlikely that fan favorites Bloodsport (Idris Elba) and Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior) will appear in the finale if Screen Rant's Jennifer Holland interview about her role as Emilia Harcourt is to be believed at face value. According to Holland, a fight between Peacemaker, Bloodsport, and Ratcatcher 2 would be interesting to see in the future, which implies that such a match-up won't happen in the Peacemaker finale. If the two characters never make a Peacemaker appearance, this doesn't deny their involvement in future DC shows, especially if James Gunn is involved. Harcourt Gets Killed In Peacemaker's Finale By popular vote, Emilia Harcourt becomes Project Butterfly's leader after Murn's death in episode 7. She's ubiquitously determined to be the most knowledgeable, professional, and assertive member of Project Butterfly. However, one of the remaining Peacemaker episode 8 twist theories is that Harcourt will die in the finale. Some factors allude to this being the case. For example, the episode 8 promo shows Harcourt telling Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks) to stay back "if something happens to us," potentially foreshadowing Harcourt's fate. Harcourt also spends most of Peacemaker keeping a distance from the others until she develops a connection with the team in episode 5. If she were to die after finally allowing herself to be close to the team in spite of her long-standing philosophy that doing so in black ops missions leads to dangerous consequences, Harcourt's death would conclude her character arc in an impactful, heartbreaking way. James Gunn's Shocking Peacemaker Twist Is About Adebayo One of Peacemaker's more endearing main characters is Leota Adebayo, Amanda Waller's daughter working on Project Butterfly. Developing a strained friendship with Peacemaker, Leota Adebayo provides a great Peacemaker character trick by looking at him with fresh eyes. She acts as an audience stand-in, expressing overwhelm to the horrific things that the other Project Butterfly members do relatively apathetically, such as killing innocent people or concealing dangerous secrets. Her relatability to the audience and her generally innocent nature make Adebayo stand out from the others. Peacemaker builds up her importance by giving Adebayo the choice on whether to stay or leave Project Butterfly. The conflict builds when her wife Keeya (Elizabeth Faith Ludlow) encourages Adebayo's decision to leave, stating that Adebayo just doesn't belong in such a tense environment. However, she chooses to stay when Harcourt recognizes Adebayo's importance to the mission. Adebayo's deliberate return and importance to the show potentially sets up something major for her in the finale. Jason Momoa's Aquaman Appears In Peacemaker Episode 8 One of the show's better decisions is recasting Peacemaker's Vigilante with Bridgerton's Freddie Stroma. His portrayal is significantly more comedic and unhinged as his multiple comic book iterations, but such an interpretation is entirely fitting in Gunn's Peacemaker. One of Vigilante's many eccentricities is that he likes using the mermaid emoji for multiple purposes, which Peacemaker explains to mean "happy, sad, and everything in between." Why Vigilante chooses the mermaid emoji for this all-encompassing purpose leaves further questions, if there's a deeper reason at all to it. In addition, Vigilante specifically uses the male mermaid emoji when texting it in the "11th Street Kids" group chat in episode 5. While this can easily pass off as a simple DC Easter egg at best, some fans are wondering if this emoji is foreshadowing an Aquaman cameo. There's also a low-hanging Aquaman joke in Peacemaker episode 1 that seems out of place in the DCEU. Aquaman has long been mocked as one of DC's goofier superheroes for his telepathic abilities with fish, but the DCEU is trying to correct this image through Jason Momoa's stronger, more powerful portrayal. All things considered, a Jason Momoa Aquaman appearance during a secret Task Force X offshoot mission doesn't seem set up beyond a couple of show references. Nonetheless, it's something Peacemaker fans are speculating to be in the finale. Source

The family of Halyna Hutchins is suing Alec Baldwin and seven additional producers of the disastrous independent western, Rust. Despite claiming that he did not pull the trigger that resulted in the fatal on-set shooting of 42-year-old cinematographer Hutchins, Baldwin has consistently been associated with the tragedy. In recent months, he’s made attempts at distancing himself from the incident but has been served with lawsuits. It’s been nearly four months since Hutchins was killed, in an accidental shooting that stunned Hollywood and made the world question how on earth a real gun, armed with live ammunition, could end up on a film set. The original story was that Baldwin had been handed a pistol while rehearsing for a scene in Rust, the independent western that he was producing and starring in. Baldwin had reportedly pointed the gun toward the camera and pulled the trigger, at which point the weapon went off, striking Hutchins and director Joel Souza. Hutchins was airlifted to hospital in Albuquerque, but later pronounced dead. Souza escaped with an injury to his shoulder, which was treated. Within weeks, however, Baldwin denied everything from having pointed the gun at Hutchins to not having pulled the trigger to accusations that he wasn’t complying with the police investigation. Throughout the duration of the investigation into Hutchins’ death, her family has quietly observed the proceedings and generally avoided laying blame on Baldwin. But that’s set to change. As The Guardian reports, Hutchins’ family has now filed a lawsuit against Baldwin and seven other Rust producers. The suit alleges that reckless behavior and cost-cutting measures ultimately resulted in the death of Hutchins, but Baldwin and the other defendants in the suit say the case should be thrown out, as it is qualifies as a workplace accident and therefore needs to go through New Mexico’s worker compensation system. This most recent lawsuit is the second targeted at Baldwin, after the film’s gaffer, Serge Svetnoy, filed a suit over negligence last November. Though Svetnoy was in no way physically injured after the accident, he contends that he suffered emotional distress after the bullet nearly struck him and he held Hutchins in his arms as she lay dying. Baldwin has recently returned to work on a new project for the first time since the shooting, with production on Rust unlikely to ever resume. Yet, throughout everything that’s occurred over the course of the past four months, Baldwin has repeatedly maintained how grief stricken he is over the accident, while subtly attempting to distance himself from blame. After the initial horror of the shooting on the set of Rust subsided slightly, it quickly became apparent that something wasn’t right with the entire production. It certainly appears as though some degree of negligence was responsible for live ammunition in a real gun, and as a producer on the film, Baldwin does share some of that blame. It seemed as though it was only a matter of time before Hutchins’ family took a legal approach against Baldwin, as there doesn’t appear to be one sole person to blame for the tragedy. Source

The director of Sony’s Uncharted adaptation, Ruben Fleischer, has spoken about his favorite Easter egg from the film. Uncharted, which stars Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, is based on the popular video game franchise of the same name. Though the film’s timeline differs considerably from that of the games, Fleischer still managed to get some clever nods to the source material—particularly as it relates to Nathan Drake. Though the film focuses on a younger Nathan Drake, it still includes a few characters from his formative years in the video games, such as Chloe Frazer (played by Sophia Ali), who went on to star in her own spinoff, The Lost Legacy. Fans have wondered just how much of the original story will be left intact by the film. It does still include Nathan Drake’s death-defying stunts, though, as he falls out of a cargo plane similarly to the opening of Uncharted: Drake’s Deception, so it’s clear the creative team of the film understands the game at its heart. Fleischer spoke to Screen Rant in an exclusive interview to promote the film, where he talked about the effort he made to appeal to fans of the game. He also spoke about trying to use some of Nathan Drake’s lines from the game, specifically “Oh, crap!” and “Well, well, well.” Check out his full quote here: “We tried to use a lot of Nate's language from the video games or lines. "Oh crap" is something that he's notorious for saying, and that's actually the first line of the film, as well as, I believe, the last line in the film. But we also have a moment when they're trapped in a well and Nate says, "Well, well, well," which is a homage to the video games, which is my favorite Easter egg in the movie.” tom holland, uncharted Video game adaptations in general have not fared very well, either with critics or at the box office. Uncharted debuted overseas to a tepid response from critics, with a 46% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The film hopes to break the "video game movie curse" that has befallen so many other adaptations. With attention to detail like Fleischer suggests, it’s possible the film could appeal to hardcore fans who are excited about seeing their favorite characters in live action. However, fans of the Uncharted games weren’t very happy about the casting of Holland as Nathan Drake, believing him to be the wrong choice for the role. Similar comments were made about Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan (or Sully), Nate’s mentor in the game. However, Fleischer’s comments seem to indicate a decent amount of respect for the material by the creative team involved with the film, which is already working to revive the action-mystery genre, as Fleischer himself said in an interview. Perhaps if more Uncharted films are made, the creative team here can go even further in bridging the gap between the films and the games to give fans the proper adaptation they want. Source

Director Denis Villeneuve teases story details for Dune: Part 2 the much anticipated sequel to his 2021 smash-hit Dune. The film is an adaptation of the novel by Frank Herbert, which follows the story of young Paul Atreides as he discovers that he is destined to become a religious leader on the desert planet Arrakis. Since its release, Dune has been nominated for 10 Academy Awards, including for the highly coveted Best Picture category. Dune is, in fact, an adaptation of only the first half of Herbert's book. Villeneuve believed that the novel was too dense to be able to be told in one film, and therefore decided to split the story into two. This was initially a risky decision to make, as Warner Bros. decided that they would only give the go-ahead for a second film if the first performed well at the box office and on HBO Max. This left many fans worried they would not be able to see the conclusion to Paul's story. However, Dune was such a massive success upon its release that Warner Bros. greenlit the sequel almost immediately, and since it was announced, fans have been eagerly awaiting any information on the progress of Dune: Part 2. In a recent interview with Empire, Villeneuve hints at some details that will be part of the story of Dune: Part 2. In Herbert's novel, attention is split between the Atreides family and the evil Harkonnen family. For the first Dune film, the director decided he would focus more on the Atreides and the Bene Gesserit organization, stating, “When you adapt, you have to make bold choices in order for the things to come to life." Villeneuve reveals that, with the second film, he will delve more into the Harkonnen side of the story, teasing the appearance of Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen. See his full quote below: When you adapt, you have to make bold choices in order for the things to come to life. And I think that was the best way to introduce this world to a wide audience. Now in the second one, I want to have more flexibility, and it will be possible to go a little bit deeper into some of these details. It’s like a chess game. Some new characters will be introduced in the second part and a decision I made very early on was that this first part would be more about Paul Atreides and the Bene Gesserit, and his experience of being in contact for the first time with a different culture. Second part, there will be much more Harkonnen stuff. Villeneuve also reveals in this interview that Dune: Part 2 is supposed to begin filming by the end of this summer. He says the film is mostly designed now, and the screenplay is complete. Villeneuve admits the second film will be more difficult to shoot, but he feels confident in the plan they've laid out. Currently, he states his only "big unknown" is the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which began after principal photography on the original film had already wrapped. Villeneuve's comments will certainly set fans buzzing about Dune: Part 2. The inner-workings of the Harkonnens is an integral part of Herbert's novel, and given how well audiences took to Villeneuve's initial interpretations of the source material, they are likely very impatient to see how he handles this new aspect of the story. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait at least a year for Villeneuve's final product as Dune: Part 2 is not set to be released until 2023. Source

Four actors who were part of the original cast of A Christmas Story will join Peter Billingsley in the upcoming sequel to the holiday classic. Nearly 40 years after the original film was released, Warner Bros. and Legendary are gearing up to make a follow-up film. The upcoming sequel is titled A Christmas Story Christmas and will follow a now grown-up Ralphie (Billingsley) as he returns to his childhood home. A Christmas Story Christmas will center around Ralphie returning to Cleveland Street in order to recreate his Christmas memories with his own family. It's yet to be determined if he'll follow in his father's footsteps by gifting his kids a Red Ryder BB gun. Ralphie will reconnect with figures from his past and will see how much his hometown has changed 30 years later. A Christmas Story Christmas currently does not have a release date, but filming is rumored to begin soon. Deadline reports that four original A Christmas Story actors will join Billingsley in the 1970s-set reboot. Ian Petrella will be reprising his role as Randy, Ralphie's mischievous younger brother. Zack Ward will be back as Scut Farkus, the former brace-face bully who tormented Randy and Ralphie in his younger years. Scott Schwartz will be reprising his role of Flick, Ralphie's friend who was infamously dared to lick a frozen pole in the dead of winter. Finally, R.D. Robb will return as Schwartz, the kid who triple-dog-dared Flick to lick the pole in the first place. In the upcoming film, Ralphie will return to his Christmas traditions and reconnect with long-lost friends. However, he is also grappling with the death of his father, with whom he had a complicated relationship. Clay Kaytis, known for his work on The Christmas Chronicles and Angry Birds Movie, will direct the upcoming sequel to the Christmas cult classic. Billingsley is not only starring in the film, but also producing alongside his frequent collaborator Vince Vaughn. A Christmas Story Christmas will likely benefit from bringing back its original cast of characters, just now acting like their adult selves. It will still be tough for the HBO Max reboot to compete with the beloved classic and its specific brand of dark humor. However, it will hopefully complement the original and serve as a satisfying continuation of the A Christmas Story tale. Source

Paramount Pictures has revealed the first image for a Blue's Clues movie which features the three hosts of the series united together. Blue Clues premiered on Nick Jr. on September 8, 1996 and focused on the adventures of a puppy simply named Blue as she and her human owner solve puzzles by clues she has left indicated by her blue paw print. The series was a smash hit when it premiered and has become a pop-culture institution, as the series recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. Over the course of the series, there have been a number of hosts, with Steve (Steve Burns), being the first and most famous one who appeared on the show from 1998 to 2002, where he was then replaced by his brother Joe (Donovan Patton) as the series said Steve went off to college. When the show returned in the form of Blue's Clues & You!, Josh (Josh Dela Cruz), who is Steve and Joe's cousin took over as the host. For people who grew up with the series as part of their childhood, each host is likely to hold a certain level of emotional weight. This is evident as a recent video featuring Steve to celebrate the series' 25th anniversary went viral. It appears the three Blue's Clues hosts will unite to appear in an upcoming Blue's Clues movie coming to Paramount+. The streaming service Paramount+ released an image of Steve, Joe, and Josh with Blue in the city. The movie is officially titled Blue's Big City Adventure and will be released in 2023. It will reportedly feature Blue and Josh heading to New York City, with the help of Steve and Joe, to audition for a big Broadway musical. This is not the first time the three hosts have appeared together, as both Steve and Joe have appeared on Blue's Clues & You! and all three performed together at the 95th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2021. This also is not the first Blue's Clues movie, as that honor goes to the 2000 direct-to-video movie, Blue's Big Musical Movie. However, this new film appears to be breaking the traditional format of the series, taking Blue into a more realistic world as opposed to the storybook images of the series, implying a much larger scale project. Uniting the three hosts is an attempt to appeal to a generational nostalgia to bring families together and older audience members who remember the series fondly. While Blue's Clues is a major franchise, and with the title Blue's Big City Adventure implying a larger scale than the series, the decision to release the film as a streaming release falls in line with Paramount's plans to prioritize streaming over theatrical films. It also shows the studio prioritizing streaming projects for younger audiences, particularly around Nick Jr. brands, as a spin-off series to the film, Dora and the Lost City of Gold, which itself was based on the hit animated series Dora the Explorer, is also coming to Paramount+. Both Clifford the Big Red Dog and Paw Patrol: The Movie were big hits for Paramount+, so a movie based on Blue's Clues is likely to be another hit for the streamer. Source

Director Ruben Fleischer jokes about a possible Zombieland 3 set ten years after Zombieland: Double Tap. Written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool) and directed by Fleischer (Venom), 2009’s Zombieland follows a geeky college student turned geeky zombie killer as he travels across a post-apocalyptic United States, surviving thanks to his strict adherence to a set of rules. Along the way, he meets three strangers, all of whom are in search of sanctuary from the undead. The film starred Jesse Eisenberg as Columbus, Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee, Emma Stone as Wichita, and Abigail Breslin as Little Rock. In addition to receiving rave reviews from critics, Zombieland grossed over $100 million worldwide on its modest $23 million budget, surpassing Dawn of the Dead as the top-grossing zombie film and arguably resetting popular culture’s obsession with reanimated corpses. Almost exactly ten years later, the original cast returned for Zombieland: Double Tap. While not as fresh, the sequel outgrossed its predecessor at the box office with $122 million. Sony hasn’t fast-tracked a threequel, but those numbers are good enough to warrant Zombieland 3. In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant for his upcoming take on Uncharted, Fleischer discussed the possibility of Zombieland 3. Although there are no current plans for a third film, the director reflected on everyone’s hopes to return to his apocalyptic world in 2029. Read what Fleischer said below: “When we were making Zombieland 2 it was a running joke among us all that, "We got to do this again in another 10 years and see where it's evolved to." We'll see come 2029 if that's something we're still thinking about. But I would be so thrilled to get the gang back together and see where their lives have led in the last 10 years.” Leading up to the release of Double Tap, the cast and crew repeatedly expressed interest in a cinematic reunion every decade. Double Tap ends with Columbus, Tallahassee, Wichita, Little Rock, and Rosario Dawson’s Nevada driving off into the sunset in Elvis Presley's car, leaving the future open for yet another comedic, gory, and occasionally dramatic adventure. Where the sequel introduces a new breed of smarter, stronger super-zombies, a third film could take its heroes to a new and exciting part of the world. Fleischer, Reese, and Wernick have all joked about filming the third movie on an island. Or, at least in a warmer filming location ripe and ready for some Fiji Water product placement. Although, the franchise did little to save Twinkies from extinction. In the years following the release of the original Zombieland, the star power of its cast grew exponentially as they cultivated increasingly busy schedules. Almost no one expected a second film. Nevertheless, Double Tap entered production, released in 2019, and proved the ten-year gap didn’t hurt its chances of success. In seven years, audiences may just see Zombieland 3. Source

The Batman star Robert Pattinson has opened up on the challenges that came with maintaining the Dark Knight's unique voice. Pattinson is about to become the next actor to bring the Caped Crusader to life on the big screen, following Ben Affleck's run in the DCEU. With The Batman taking place in its own universe, the Matt Reeves-directed picture will follow Bruce Wayne's life as Gotham City's crime fighter. Rather than following a traditional origin story, however, The Batman will explore Bruce's second year as the iconic DC hero, during which he is not entirely new in the role, but still far away from being the iconic Batman fans know and love. The Batman, which is being envisioned as the beginning of a new Batman trilogy for Warner Bros., will see Bruce Wayne taking on Paul Dano's Edward Nashton, a.k.a. The Riddler. With The Batman depicting The Riddler as a Zodiac-inspired serial killer, the reboot will be quite a different experience for the Dark Knight's cinematic history. The Batman will also explore the hero's rouges gallery, with The Penguin and Carmine Falcone, played by Colin Farrell and John Turturro, respectively. The reboot is also introducing the latest iteration of Selina Kyle, with Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman. As several actors have portrayed Batman in film, one of the most important aspects about the character is nailing the Caped Crusader's voice. In a new interview with GQ, Pattinson spoke about doing his take on the Batman voice, which he admitted was a challenge. The British star shared how he, unwaveringly, did vocal exercises that helped him find and keep up his take on the Batman's low, husky voice. Pattinson shared the following: "I mean it's really hard, it's really, really hard. I think I was doing vocal exercises without actually knowing they were vocal exercises. I think [my] larynx or something just got strengthened or something when I was doing the movie. When I was doing ADR for it, I mean I couldn't even do the voice again. It had completely reverted back to normal." When it comes to playing Batman in either live action or animation, the voice is a make-it-or-break-it aspect. Kevin Conroy, who has voiced Batman the longest since Batman: The Animated Series, set the standard in a lot of ways for the character's media portrayal. Some actors have nailed the hero's fear-striking voice, such as Christian Bale in Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, while others have opted for a less intimidating approach. Given the DC character is ultimately just a man dressed up as a bat, it's crucial that his voice is intimidating on every level, in order to capture Batman's nightmare-like presence. Based on the various trailers for The Batman, Pattinson is certainly embracing this as much as possible. Given that Pattinson explained how it was hard to do the voice for ADR, it's possible future The Batman sequels will take a similar approach to Affleck's character. In the DCEU, Affleck's Batman had a voice modulator, which likely made it easier for the actor to avoid straining his voice. Since his iteration is still early in his career, it wouldn't be unrealistic for Pattinson's Batman to use a voice changer as part of his disguise. With The Batman being less than a month away from releasing in theaters, the world will soon get to hear Pattinson's Batman voice in its entirety. Source

New photos from the HBO series adaptation of The Time Traveler's Wife emerge showing the two leads, played by Theo James and Rose Leslie, in love. The story from Audrey Niffenegger’s novel was adapted once before in 2009 with Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana. The announcement of the new adaptation coming to HBO came out all the way back in 2018 with former Doctor Who showrunner, Steven Moffat, penning the adaptation. In February of 2021, it was revealed that James, of Divergent fame, and Leslie, seen in Game of Thrones, would be starring as the time traveler and his titular wife. Now, TVLine has released new pictures from the adaptation that feature James and Leslie embracing as well as some photos of other actors in the upcoming series. Desmin Borges and Natasha Lopez can be seen in these new pictures as friends of the two romantic leads. The images show the couple embracing as well as the two of them alone in the same setting, displaying the central predicament of the story: having a partner who is there one minute and gone the next. Check out the new images below: These photos help to display the love and visual mood for the series and help audiences see what they have to look forward to when the series comes to air. If these images are anything to say for the series, it's clear that the Sanditon alum and Leslie will show a lovely relationship that kindles over the first season. This should hopefully address criticisms that were made about the film adaptation of The Time Traveler's Wife for not allowing the couple to have time to engage in their romance before they are tragically taken away from one another. There is still not an official release set for the series, but it will be released in 2022. Source

A new video shared by Jennifer Aniston shows Adam Sandler dancing with the crew on the tropical set of Murder Mystery 2. Released in 2019, the first Murder Mystery became a bit hit for Netflix and currently sits on the streamer's top ten most-watched original films of all time. The film follows a New York couple's European vacation, which quickly goes wrong after the two are framed for the murder of a wealthy elite. Murder Mystery may not have fared well with critics (it currently sits at just 45% on Rotten Tomatoes), but its popularity with audiences resulted in Netflix greenlighting a sequel shortly after its release. Few details are known about the sequel's plot thus far, but the original film did end with the Sandler and Aniston's characters boarding the famed Orient Express, possibly hinting at what fans can expect in Murder Mystery 2. The upcoming sequel is part of an ongoing distribution deal between Sandler and Netflix, which has already produced a host of other films, including Hubie Halloween, The Ridiculous 6, The Do-Over, Sandy Wexler, and The Week Of. A new Instagram post from Aniston shows that both the cast and crew are having fun producing Murder Mystery 2. In addition to an ocean-side photo of Sandler and Aniston, the post also includes a video featuring Sandler dancing with the crew on the film's tropical set with the caption, "Back to work with my buddy." Check out Aniston's Instagram post below: Click here to see the original post. Aniston's post comes several weeks after leaked set photos provided a first glimpse at the sequel's Hawaii set. While not giving anything away in terms of Murder Mystery 2's plot, Aniston's post does provide a closer look at the set and makes clear that both cast and crew are keeping things light and breezy in the movie's tropical location. It remains to be seen whether the film is actually set in Hawaii or if Hawaii is acting as a stand-in for another locale. Murder Mystery 2 marks the third time Sandler and Aniston have starred in a movie together after 2011's Just Go With It and the original Murder Mystery. If the first movie is anything to go by, the sequel will have plenty of murder, intrigue, and laughs to go around with Sandler and Aniston's characters getting caught up once more in the fallout from an unexpected fatality. While filming on Murder Mystery 2 is still underway, a 2022 release date for the movie seems likely, but no official announcements have been made just yet. Source

Director Steven Soderbergh thinks that superhero movies lack sex scenes. Soderbergh is the prolific director of the Oceans Eleven franchise, as well as films like Out of Sight, Traffic, Erin Brockovich, and Magic Mike. The director's first film was the aptly-titled Sex, Lies, and Videotape, starring Andie McDowell and James Spader, which launched Soderbergh into a distinguished career as a filmmaker. His 2011 film Contagion has recently seen a surge in popularity as it has been frequently compared to the COVID-19 pandemic. Superhero films, by and large, do not contain gratuitous sex scenes, but have always leaned into romantic relationships and occasionally do have sex scenes, depending on the property involved. Recently, Marvel had its first-ever feature film sex scene in The Eternals, while other properties have had much more expressive scenes. Some more gratuitous sex scenes have been featured with Ryan Reynolds and Morena Baccarin's scenes in Deadpool, Patrick Wilson and Malin Akerman in Watchmen, and a host of others on a variety of superhero shows like the Marvel/Netflix shows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage, as well as Amazon Prime's The Boys and DC's Doom Patrol. While the mainstream Marvel and DC feature films may avoid sex scenes, there are clearly a good amount of outliers that embrace it. While talking to The Daily Beast, Soderbergh said that he has trouble imagining the superhero world without sex, which is a hindrance to his style of storytelling as it conflicts with how humans behave. The director says that the "fantasy-spectacle" universe typically "doesn't involve a lot of f*cking" and doesn't typically give insight into who is funding superheroes or how their jobs came to be. Soderbergh says he's "not a snob" about superhero films, nor does he look down on them, but the genre is something he feels he doesn't have the imagination for. Here's his full quote, when asked if he's ever approached to make spectacle-driven films: Not really, and I’m not a snob; it’s not that I feel it’s some lower tier in any way. It really becomes about what universe you occupy as a storyteller. I’m just too earthbound to really release myself to a universe in which Newtonian physics don’t exist [laughs]. I just have a lack of imagination in that regard, which is why the one foray I had into pure science-fiction [2002’s Solaris] was essentially a character drama that happened to be set on a spaceship. Also, for a lot of these, for me to understand the world and how to write or supervise the writing of the story and the characters—apart from the fact that I can bend time and defy gravity and shoot beams out of my fingers—there’s no fucking. Nobody’s fucking! Like, I don’t know how to tell people how to behave in a world in which that is not a thing. Soderbergh's films and TV shows have typically leaned into the sexual aspect of the characters, but not necessarily as the leading theme of the film itself. Sex has played a role in many of his films, however, including the Magic Mike series, the Liberace biopic Behind The Candelabra with Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, and 2009's The Girlfriend Experience, which was later turned into an anthology series on Starz. Soderbergh is currently preparing to direct a third sequel to Magic Mike, entitled Magic Mike's Last Dance, which brings back star Channing Tatum to the famed stripper role. His latest film, Kimi, starring Zoe Kravitz, is set to debut on HBO Max on February 10th. Soderbergh's comments don't appear to be malicious, but do come off rather presumptuous and misinformed about the broader scope of the genre. The simple fact is that there are sex scenes in superhero films, just not all superhero films. There are plenty of examples to pull from, which feature actual sex, nudity, and intimacy set within that genre. While it may not feature in a film like Spider-Man: No Way Home, it does feature in films like Deadpool or most recently in The Eternals. The more hardcore TV shows, including The Boys, Doom Patrol, or the now-canceled MCU-set Netflix shows, have taken sex scenes to far greater lengths, but there are still limits to films that appeal on a global scale and to a wider audience, particularly younger ones. Perhaps if Soderbergh explored the genre a bit more, he may find that it's not only open to what he thinks is lacking, but is in need of his take, especially as it pertains to sexual relationships, just not for the big-budget fare, which he's not typically aligned with anyway. There are multiple The Smurfs projects in development at Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, with the first movie set to be a musical. The Smurfs was originally a comic series created by Belgian artist Pierre Culliford, also known as Peyo. Since then, there has been multiple movie and series based on the characters. The most recent was an animated series released in 2021, simply titled The Smurfs. The 2017 film Smurf: The Lost Village, produced by Sony Pictures, was the last time the little blue creatures appeared in a cinematic outing. The film received mixed reviews from critics and audiences but managed to bring in a worldwide total of $197.2 million. While the film wasn't a critical hit, it more than made back its reported production budget of $60 million, cementing the franchise as a money-maker in the modern era. Now, Nickelodeon has licensed the global rights to The Smurfs, giving them the ability to grow the world in new ways. According to THR, Nickelodeon is teaming up with LAFIG Belgium and IMPS to bring The Smurfs back to the screen in multiple new films. The first movie in the franchise will be a musical set to be released around Christmas 2024. Pam Brady, best known for her work as a writer and a producer for South Park, is set to write the film. Production for the new movie is set to begin this year, with a planned release date to be December 20, 2024. As of right now, there has been no decision yet made on who will be directing the new movie. Ramsey Naito, president of animation for Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, hopes to bring in new audiences and continue building on the world with the new animated musical. While Nickelodeon will be adding a musical twist to the movie, they still plan to keep true to the world and the characters Culliford created in his comics. This means Smurfs fans can expect to see Papa Smurf (at least) in some form in the not-to-distant future. In addition to the movie musical, The Smurfs Season 2 will return following the 2021 premier of its inaugural season. The Smurfs Season 2 will consist of 26 episodes that follow Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Brainy, Hefty, Clumsy, and others within Smurf Village. While there is no information on the other Smurfs movies in the works, fans of the characters can look forward to multiple video games currently in development. Nickelodeon is well-known for bringing family-friendly franchises to the screen. Adding The Smurfs to their list will help bring in new audiences and dedicated fans to the original movies and series to the network. It also creates opportunities for The Smurfs storylines to grow in new and exciting ways as Nickelodeon can incorporate its own twists on the world and the characters living within it. This will continue opening new doors for Nickelodeon and The Smurf universe. Source

Mark Wahlberg doesn't want to star in a superhero movie because of the costumes. Originally part of the hip-hop group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, Wahlberg transitioned into acting where he found himself involved in a number of high-profile, critically praised projects like Boogie Nights, The Departed, and The Fighter, to name a few. The actor has also found himself front in center in many high-profile blockbuster franchises like Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes, Transformers: Age of Extinction, and the upcoming film Uncharted. One genre that Wahlberg has not been a part of is the superhero film. While Wahlberg has not been in a superhero movie, he did lend his voice to the superhero character The Blue Falcon in the 2020 film, Scoob!. However, other than that voice work, Wahlberg has avoided superhero films. Yet, his next few projects see him acting alongside some major superheroes. Uncharted will see Wahlberg opposite Spider-Man star, Tom Holland, and Shang-Chi star, Simu Liu, will co-lead Arthur and the King with Wahlberg. With so much overlap with superhero actors, it is likely many will wonder if he is ever going to join a project for Marvel or DC. Wahlberg recently revealed to Cinepop, via Comicbook.com, that the reason he does not have interest in starring in a superhero film does not come from looking down on the genre, but more so, he can't see himself wearing the costumes. Wahlberg did not rule out being in a superhero film, saying the right project would get him on board. He also shared there is one superhero-type character he still wants to play, The Six Million Dollar Man. Wahlberg said: "I like them enough, I'm not one of those purists who is like 'Oh this is not cinema.' I think the audiences decide and obviously, they [superhero movies] have been wildly successful. It's just that for me, personally, as an actor, I would have a really hard time walking out of my trailer with a cape on, and a spandex suit. But that being said, I was working really hard to bring The $6 Million-Dollar man to the screen, which is based on a TV series. And it was based on a lot of wish-fulfillment and what this character could do, based on what they did to him. But it was grounded in reality and you felt like it would be much more believable as being realistic, to me, to be able to play that part, and feel like 'I could do this,' in a way that didn't feel silly. But you never know: maybe the right part will come along! We'll see." Wahlberg had been attached to a movie adaptation of the hit television show, The Six Million Dollar Man, since 2014, and the film was set for release on May 31, 2020, before Warner Bros. removed it from their release schedule back in 2018. The show focused on Steve Austin, played by Lee Majors, as an astronaut-turned-cyborg who works as a secret agent. While the character has many of the hallmarks of a classic superhero, he is known for his simple tracksuit, which is a more down-to-earth costume that Wahlberg would feel comfortable wearing. Uncharted sees Wahlberg stepping into the role of Sully, a major supporting character in the Uncharted games, which could be an indicator of the type of role Wahlberg would accept in a superhero movie. While the actor likely would not want to play a superhero or villain, he could be open to one of the heroes' supporting characters, and in the case of characters like Korg and Miek in Thor: Ragnarok or Luis in Ant-Man, they have become breakout characters in their own right. With so many superhero films in development from Marvel Studios, DC, Image, Valiant, and more, there is no shortage of characters Mark Wahlberg could sign on for. Source

Channing Tatum still thinks that a crossover between 21 Jump Street and Men in Black could work. A reboot of the 1980s television show of the same name, 21 Jump Street starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum was a critical and box office success, grossing $201 million worldwide that led to an equally successful sequel in 2014 titled 22 Jump Street. While the sequel ended with a series of joke trailers for upcoming Jump Street sequels, one was actually planned titled MIB 23 and would have seen the characters crossover into the Men in Black franchise. Based on the Malibu comic of the same name, Men in Black was released in 1997 and starred Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones as secret agents who monitor extraterrestrial threats. The film was a box office smash upon release and was the second highest-grossing film of 1997, only behind Titanic. The 2002 sequel, Men in Black 2, received mixed reviews and grossed less than the first film. 2012, the year 21 Jump Street was released, also saw the release of Men in Black 3, which appeared to be the last film for Smith and Jones. The plan was then to crossover Men in Black with 21 Jump Street with The Muppets filmmaker James Bobin signed on to helm the film, yet the project eventually fell through. Tatum told Collider that he was blown away by the script for MIB 23 and that it was one of the funniest scripts he's read. He said that he still thinks it could work but acknowledges the issues getting the film made, including getting the various producers to sign on. Tatum says a lot of producers' contracts would need to be renegotiated. Read his full quote below: "I still think it could work, I really do. And if Sony would ever really, like, I think do the hard work and figure out the producer problems that are inherent with that film, I think we can still do it. But right now, I don't know why, they're just not motivated to do it. It's a big overhead on that movie, so...There's [Steven] Spielberg, Neil Moritz, and Walter Parks. They're giant producers, y'know, on that. And then once everybody is kinda like, not willing to come off their fee, you end up having a producer fee that is essentially, maybe more than the actual budget on the movie." It was reported in 2019 the film was stopped by 21 Jump Street producer Neil Moritz, who refused to take a pay cut to get the project off the ground. Since the project fell through, both franchises have been at a bit of a standstill. A female-centric spin-off of 21 Jump Street titled Jump Street: Now for Her Pleasure is in development. Sony rebooted the Men in Black franchise in 2019 with Thor: Ragnarok stars, Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, in Men in Black: International, yet the film was a box office bomb and was disliked by critics, once again leaving the franchise's future up in the air. While the fate of both franchises is up in the air, it is still possible the 21 Jump Street and Men in Black crossover could happen one day. Both Freddy vs. Jason and Alien vs. Predator were two long in-development crossover projects that also took years to work out contracts between various producers. 21 Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller recently revealed how close the film came to happening and teased the movie's plot. With how much success Sony has had with Spider-Man: No Way Home, a film that also reused concepts the studio had back in 2014 to crossover Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man franchises, it is entirely likely they have not shut the door on MIB 23. One of Judy Blume's best-selling children's books, Superfudge, is now being developed by Disney's streaming platform as an animated film produced by Joe and Anthony Russo. The Superfudge children's novel was published in 1980 and is a sequel to Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, making it the third entry in the Fudge series. The property was previously adapted as a TV series titled Fudge and aired from 1995 to 1997. The story in the book centers on the character of three-year-old Farley Drexel Hatcher, or The Fudge, who seems to believe he's a superhero. And the zany dynamic between him and his brother Peter, as he one day runs away under Peter's supervision across NYC as chaos ensues. The epic adventure in the Big Apple is described as one that "ultimately brings these two together just as their world is turned upside down by the arrival of a brand-new problem — an infant baby sister — reminding us all that nothing is ever constant … except change." As an author, Blume has earned notable awards for her work, including the American Library Association (ALA) 's Margaret A. Edwards Award. Blume was also recognized as a Library of Congress Living Legend and awarded the 2004 National Book Foundation Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American letters. According to Deadline, Disney Branded Television's President Ayo Davis announced the Disney+ film project with Avengers: Endgame directors the Russo Bros. as producers during the Television Critics Association's Winter Press Tour. It is being produced by the Russo Brothers' company, AGBO, and written by Amos Vernon and Nunzio Randazzo. Vernon and Nunzio recently wrote the screenplay for Sony Pictures Animation's Hotel Transylvania: Transformania. The Russo Bros. have typically produced and/or directed action-oriented live-action content such as Extraction, 21 Bridges, and several Marvel Cinematic Universe titles. Superfudge will mark the first animated film the brother duo have developed and produced together. Currently, they are wrapping up production and directorial duties on The Gray Man, starring Captain America: Civil War star Chris Evans. They are also producing the sequel to Extraction with fellow Avengers alumni Chris Hemsworth. Disney has been quickly ramping up production on numerous original films and television shows for their Disney+ streaming platform. With Superfudge being based on only one of several titles in the same book series, the streamer may choose to adapt future films or shows based on Blume's popular series of books. Although it is still too early to tell what the property's future with Disney+ will be, it is an encouraging sign that such a high-profile team like the Russo Bros. are collaborating on the current project.
